004. Third Flight - Slightly distorted video

[What is that? An American flag fluttering across the screen? No, just a cape. A very bright, very red cape. Clark is practicing his hovering, because it looks completely different on screen than simply standing still, and strengthens his make-believe that Superman and Clark Kent are from different universes, and that he can fly, you know, just ( Read more... )

[And as he said he would be, Clark is at the park later, all in red and blue. Feel free to start an action thread of your own and thread around with other characters etc.]

[Clark wasn't sure if anyone else would come. Yes, there were plenty of Americans here in the city, but the proposal was spontaneous enough that they might have made other plans. Still, he missed the picnics back in Smallville, the charity ballgames that would be played in the park, the way that everyone got together and just chatted, as though there was nothing that made any of them different. It had made him feel more human, and it seemed foolish to let it pass without at least marking it. He leant against a tree beside the lake, looking quietly out across the water, and for a moment just let his eyes close, drifted back to Smallville.

At night the sun would slowly set, and the dancing would continue under lights and waving flags, and everyone would slowly relax and lean back and wait for the fireworks to light up the sky, chasing away the last streaks of sunlight.

He missed it so much.

His smile, as he opened his eyes, looked back into the sky, was sad. But a smile none the less.]

You thought you could keep me away, holding this before dark. Don't think I don't know it. [He's teasing. Cheer up, Clark :C]

[A glance, and he's grateful for it.]

Just for you, I'll set off some fireworks after dark, how does that sound?

Okay, so...what's the big deal about Fourth of July anyway? Is it really just Canada Day for America?

Well, every holiday is slightly different, but they're similar enough that certain regions celebrate both as the same event. The celebrations are much the same, as are the feelings behind them.

Well- anything's good for a picnic, right? Maybe I'll come by with some friends.

That's my feeling too. At home, the picnics were my favourite part of the day. People just getting to know each other, slowing down from their hectic lives.

[A pause.]

Sadly I never was much good at slowing down.

[She's been celebrating the fourth of July ever since it became a holiday to celebrate, so this is...a nice touch, to say the least.]

I did wake up this morning and wonder why people were not wearing red, white, and blue at work today. Canada Day just doesn't seem to be the same.

Well it's on a different date, for one thing. You don't celebrate Christmas in January. [A smile.] Have you been celebrating today?

No, you definitely don't. [Smiles.] As best I can. I am looking forward to seeing fireworks tonight, though, so you have made this day a little more enjoyable then it started out as.

I have patrols today, but I'll try and stop by. Sounds like fun.

It should be. I do hope you can make it.

Would you be doing much to celebrate at home?

My family used to always have a barbeque, but they haven't done that in ages. I'd probably be going to a coworkers home. There's usually a few who have parties and invite other agents to come and stop by.
