[What is that? An American flag fluttering across the screen? No, just a cape. A very bright, very red cape. Clark is practicing his hovering, because it looks completely different on screen than simply standing still, and strengthens his make-believe that Superman and Clark Kent are from different universes, and that he can fly, you know, just ( Read more... )

I have patrols today, but I'll try and stop by. Sounds like fun.

It should be. I do hope you can make it.

Would you be doing much to celebrate at home?

My family used to always have a barbeque, but they haven't done that in ages. I'd probably be going to a coworkers home. There's usually a few who have parties and invite other agents to come and stop by.

You must be missing them today especially. Your family and friends?

A little. It's just my dad and me, and he lives in Boston, while I'm in Virginia. But I do miss my friends. At this point I haven't seen them in months, I was sent to Philly on my own, so... it's been awhile.

But here you can't even phone them.

[He sounds sad, but it's not only for himself.]

Tell me about your friends?

No, I can't. We can't, I guess, no one here can really go and phone home.

[Pauses, and then he chuckles.]

Most of my friends are also my coworkers. When you're a profiler, you get put onto a team in the BAU, and that team is like...family. Sure, we have our secrets, but you're with them every day, 24/7 sometimes, depending on a case. I'm the second youngest, and they're always making fun of my accent. [Laughs.]

I can understand that. Your team becomes your family, sometimes closer. You love them just like a family, and you live with their faults just like a family, but in the end you have to put up with them and hold together, no matter what. How many of you were there?

Yeah, that's it exactly. I work with five other agents, and then we have a supervisor.

Are you close with all of them?

Varying degrees, but I'd say I'm pretty close with them. Close enough to call them my friends.

And is there anyone special in your life?

Ahaha, no, no there isn't. Not right now. I'm too busy with work to do anything.

Love doesn't usually seem to care whether you're busy or not, in my experience.

I think I'm just bad at relationships. The only people I really get out to see are criminals, or police we're sent to work with.

...And now that I'm here, working for the police, it's not really high on the list. I mean, what's the point if you or the other person will eventually be sent home?

If you approach your life that way, then what's the point in doing anything? People will eventually die--why save them?
