It's the sign of a good reporter to ask relevant, challenging questions, Dr. Yumeno. Had I thought of it myself, it's exactly the kind of question I too would have asked, if only because it keeps people on their toes, makes them question their own judgement so that they don't end up covering up for their lack of foresight later.

There is an appropriate time and place for that. Public relations can keep us on our toes off the clock, but not to the point of disruptive harassment.

In my experience 'No comment' works just as well.

Does it?

You must have more restraint and respect than these who have been finding their way onto the wards and have to be ushered off by security.

Everyone loves a conspiracy, doctor. How else is someone supposed to make their own dull little life seem part of something interesting? [his tone makes it clear that he isn't among the 'they' he's talking about]

There is no conspiring here. Just health care professionals, attempting to do their best in a highly irregular situation, drawn up sharply under the public eye.

I don't doubt. But "just in: doctors doing their jobs" doesn't quite have the same spin to it as "undercover SERO doctors seize control of darkness baby", now, does it?

There's nothing undercover about it. It's generally not the public's business to know the details of a patient's care.

I feel bad for the child, part of the Darkness or not.

It's a very unfortunate complication. If delivered this far ahead, preterm, from my understanding it would probably not survive without severe defects.

But she's still got at least four weeks to go till she reaches the limit of fetal viability, and in the meantime it's straining all her abdominal organs, this daily vanishing act.

I bet it is. I just... There's no clear-cut solution for this and that's the sad thing. It's still a child and they can't just kill it, but it's killing her--

It's disgusting.

Without question, SERO's research lends itself further into understanding the darkness effect than our facility's experience with it. They've apparently bred smaller mammals successfully with their dark counterparts- and so they do have better means of managing her pregnancy from here on out.

In the end, it came down to Skye's doctors reaching the end of the line with being able to ensuring her well being and keep the child, and she is unwilling to settle for that, so the transfer was ultimately her decision.

Even so, you do seem to be somewhat concerned.

Well of course, I'm concerned.

Do you lack faith in the facility where you work?

We are doctors, not miracle workers, and this is an exceptional case.

I believe that my colleagues at Skye have followed through to the best of their ability, up to this point. I know there are some who will disagree with them passing the torch to SERO's hospital, but there are simply some circumstances where we've done all we can. This mother was asking too much of them, to continue letting her carry to term.

You're a doctor, Daedae? [Oop nicknames...] That's really cool.

Daedalus. [just a gentle correction, for now] And yes, I am.
