Occasionally, I have idly thought to myself 'I need an arranger'. This thought is due to the fact that I'm pretty good at writing lyrics, and not that bad at writing melodies, but not at all knowledgable regarding what different instruments do, etc etc. - the kind of knowledge arrangers live on ( Read more... )

*giggle!* I should have seen that coming. I twisted 'break a leg' for the high-pitched singers of this world, I should have known *someone* would do a songwriting equivalent.

BTW, I added you to my friends list since we share a number of friends in common. I heard that you like us "high girls" and you know we all like composers who write for our voice type.

Good idea. :) Thing is - I didn't at first. On the grounds that there seemed to be far too many songs for them anyway, and that additionally the altos were being squeezed out.

The latter's still true - I wish there was more balance - but the former is only true because sopranos are so numerous (in relative terms) anyway, and they're also hugely varied. I very much lean towards soft, high, vulnerable-sounding voices (faire_damsel anyone?).

I've just looked at your LJ and started to think 'oooh, a singing teacher!'. This is primarily due to the fact that I would greatly benefit from the technical expertise of people like yourself. (Note my comment to luxperpetua's last LJ entry.) Am friending you back. :)
