P.S. I read your article on inkpop! The advice is excellent: I took notes on it and everything. But there's one part of it I feel uncertain about: You say that good stories should "feel big," but I've heard someone say that if you sit down with a message to get across, it's likely something that's been said before. I understand that you are a published author and I'm just a novice, but in my experience, writing in order to make a statement instead of to tell a story has not been successful. Maybe it's just a personal thing.

when i said a story should feel "big" i meant more like it should feel weighty and important and have emotional stakes that feel big to your main character.
i hope that clears things up. it sounds like you are on the right path!
