abandon ship!

ooooooh! there's a post up about me on inkpop, a new writing blog for teens. my piece discusses how to find an idea for a story and ways to help develop it. check it out here! the site is still in its test phase. it will be launching new and fancy in a few weeks. yehaw!

in other news, i am plugging away on my revision. for the last three days, i've been retyping every word onto a new, fresh document. i'm cleaning up a lot of clunky phrases and tightening lots of screws, but honestly...this is taking A LOT longer than i have anticipated. so now, i'm sitting here with my morning coffee, trying to figure out if i should bail on this strategy.

the fact is that the beginning of my book is a waaaay cleaner document than the end. in a sense, i am spending a lot of time on a part that doesn't need much help, while avoiding the part that does. this, my friends, is surely because i'm afraid to write my way out of a few holes. but with NINE DAYS LEFT, i think i have to jump into the thick of things and just get into the working-not-so-great stuff.

it's like i'm abandoning my nice cozy cruise ship for a leaky little rowboat with one paddle and no life vest.

here's to hoping i won't drown.
