it's revision time

got revision notes yesterday from david. they seem...manageable! i think a lot of the hardcore work will probably be done in line edits. david is big into his line edits. so for now, i've just got to plug a bunch of holes and unfinished scenes, rewrite a key moment from the beginning, and make all the writing a bit snappier and more awesome.

ahem. i have all of two weeks to accomplish this.

but before i get busy, i've got a question. how do you approach the revision process? i'm always looking for new tricks and strategies! so if you've got one to share, please comment.

my screenwriter friend brian makes very elaborate documents on excel. then again, he's got to handle a bunch of notes from different creative types--execs, the director, etc. me, not so much.

i remember joknowles makes a storyboard for each scene, so she could see the holes and plot problems and map her emotional arc. that's a really cool idea, but i don't think i have that many structural problems at this point.

my friend lisa graff does this thing where she opens up a new document and retypes every single word she's written.

i think i'm going to try that strategy, especially since i want to make the writing as a whole a lot more fancy. a word my word examination and then a patch job of all the holes at the end.

*cracks knuckles* now that i've got that settled...away i go!
