news from the burgh!

awwww yeah! i'm making progress now!

revision is due in five days, and i finally feel like i'm getting somewhere! cleaning up a few things in the beginning, and switching some big things around at the end. have to still revise and clean up a hundred or so pages in the middle, and then give my end one last big fat pass. which i can totalllllllly do in 5 days, right?!?

*bites nail* hmm. this might be a shorter post than i'd anticipated.

earlier this week, i was offered the chance to teach another class at the university of pittsburgh. it's called CHILDHOOD BOOKS and it's a lit course. i've had a blast coming up with ideas for the reading list. but it's going to be a lot of work once all that stuff is set. i'll have to prepare a bunch of prompts and questions and discussion points. i'm a little sad that they won't be offering my creative writing class too, but looks like it will be on next fall's schedule. and it's kind of nice to mix things up. i love chatting about books, and i'm putting some of my FAV-O-RITES on this syllabus, so that should be good times.

and here's some exciting pittsburgh news. this sunday, i will be going to my very first STEELER game! i'm really excited. hopefully it won't be too terribly cold and / or rainy. but even so...the idea of being in a stadium full of cheering fans, having a beer and a pretzel, and hooting and shouting with my boyfriend and two very dear friends makes me really happy.

and i think i'm also going to try and hit up the big shepard fairey exhibit and opening party for his new show at the warhol museum. for those who don't know, shepard created the now iconic obama poster.

which i LOVE. but more than that, shepard's famous for his andre the giant OBEY series.

side note: i was pretty much OBSESSED with wwf wrestling as a kid. like, seriously obsessed. i had plastic wrestlers, a pillow person Hulk Hogan, and i used to rent old summerslams and royal rumbles from the video store. kind of strange, i know.

on that note, it's back to work time! see you around, friends!
