Ahh, the Golden Pavillion! I remember it was one of my favorite places to visit while in Japan. *flails* I took a gazillion photos of basically everything there, hehe. xD

Osamu Tezuka is still the boss! The merch when I went wasn't quite so amazing though, it was more flavor-of-the-month stuff, Shonen Jump and whatnot. (Although I have since been to an Osamu Tezuka exhibit and that had plenty of themed merch - guh, so difficult to resist spending all of my money on trinkets!)
Yeah, I did actually look at swinging around your neighbourhood but I'm afraid there wasn't quite enough there to grab my attention even after your excellent sell. :P Too much of a detour to justify, especially since San Fran is going to blow a massive hole in my wallet, urgh. Do you have any recommendations for Chicago though? (beyond the Sears Tower?) I'm mostly going there to visit one of my expat siblings, but I'll have some time to kill when he's working and no idea what to do with it!
Oh wow, so many fantastic cosplays! LOL Team Rocket, that looks like it would have been fun (especially as you found Pokemon to steal!) That was a super-good Genesis indeed and ahhhh Kaitou Kid! <3 My jaw dropped at the Walt Disney and Mickey

Hehe, Tezuka's stuff is amazing. I still have a ton of his stuff that I've yet to read (and still haven't finished Phoenix, gah *headdesk*), but it's so damn awesome, I can't imagine someone not liking his stuff. *flails

Place to visit in Dallas

I hear good things about the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens in Dallas. Haven't actually visited myself because we have Botanical Gardens in Fort Worth but general admission is free. The Dallas World Aquarium is completely worth the $21 admissions fee :)

Ah, Fort Worth actually works, as that's where I'm staying (I sort of considered Dallas and Fort Worth the same city, even though I realise they aren't). Thanks for the tips!

In that case I would suggest looking into the cattle drive at the Fort Worth Stockyards. It is very popular with tourists, and its free. The Botanical Gardens in Fort Worth are lovely, I have a number of friends who took engagement photos there. However I don't think many people visit until the flowers start to bloom. I would advise packing some warm clothing. It has been unusually cold this year.
Japan, my dream world! I have been waiting to visit there for more than a decade, and I still don't have the money to take my trip T^T. I'm so envy about you.
You mentioned that you are visiting Hong Kong soon, huh? It may disappoint you, but it is true that the shops are now more or less the same for everywhere - yea, I mean it is not much difference for each of the big shopping malls. And the crowds of Mainlanders will probably kill your mood. I know well because I live there Orz.
Okay, not saying more to hit your heart. Maybe Conan is the Japan version of Doctor Who in UK - nobody hasn't heard of it.
"a sort of 'garden' where people could cosplay and take pictures"...... I decide I must have a tour to there once (you don't need to tell me I am daydreaming, of course I am)
Thank you for the tips! I will definitely check those out.
I'll make a proper Hong Kong travel post eventually, but so far I've been to Hong Kong Disneyland (it might be smaller but I assure you it's much better than EuroDisney!) as well as Central (got very lost, but found Cat street and a few other markets which were interesting just to window shop), and Avenue of the Stars, which had such a great view (plus it was fun looking for the squares of what HK movie stars I recognised). Tried to head to Victoria's Peak too but got intimidated by the massive wait for the Peak Tram, so going to look into alternative methods of getting up there.
You're perfectly understandable anon, don't worry about it. Practice makes perfect. :) How on earth did you find your way to this corner of the web though? I'm always so impressed when people go net surfing in their second language.

Cheers for the tips! I'll probably give the zoo a miss (Singapore more than adequately covered that) but will check out Navy Pier.
Ahaha you can never catch all the cosplays you want to at a con! It's impossible! :P
