The sky has been transformed into a breathtaking view of Saturn. Best not to get too distracted though - you wouldn't want to get caught by that shambler there. And stay away from dark areas - oh wait. Everything is dark.

THE VENTS/BUNNY SPY will delete if not okay :x usagipino March 12 2011, 06:44:32 UTC
Pino wasn't sure how long she had been hiding and traveling through the dark places, vents and ducts and maintenance tunnels, keeping to the shadows and staying silent. Her sense of time, just like her sense of everything else, had been warped and changed, not just by the Bad Pulse coming from Zone 8, but also by SHODAN's takeover. Every time Pino tried to connect to the network, through her wearable or instinctively through her own adapters, she got back strange codes and signals, foreign to Pino, foreign to Sacrosanct. All of it had pretty soundly torn Pino's already faulty understanding of reality ( ... )

Parker hadn't hesitated when Hardison had asked her to help out with the rescue efforts in Zone 7. Sure, it was dangerous, but lots of things were dangerous. There were people trapped in there. People who needed help.

This was what she did.

...well, sort of.

She made her way unerringly through the vents, heading for the center of the zone, where the largest concentration of prisoners was being held. She was nearly there when she came across an unexpected obstacle.

There was someone else in the vents. Parker slowed, peering ahead of her cautiously in the dim light.

"-Hello?"

By then Pino had slumped against the wall of the vent, carefully positioned in a hotspot where she'd been able to get sporadic network access. She no longer had the energy to move about; she distantly hoped that no service Autoraves would find her.

But now someone was coming.

"Vince...Vince...Vince help..."

Vince would save her, right? He'd show up just in time and save her from whatever was coming. He'd come. He had to.

Her eyes had long since adjusted to the dim light, however, and she stared as the new figure came into view. It wasn't an Autorave, or any of the strange machines here that Pino had to classify as Autoraves. It wasn't a monster, either. It was a person.

And it was speaking to her.

"Heellllloooo?" Pino's voice was quiet and slow. She was almost out of power now and it was affecting her voice.

This place is oddly empty. Slick organic ooze of various colors splatter the walls in a few places, and it smells like a charnel house. … wait, did you just see something moving in the corner? Hear a slight screech...?

[ooc; this is after the Eridan thread]

Feferi really didn't like leaving Eridan alone like that- she hadn't liked leaving Sollux and Dave either but there was just too much going on. Once she was sure he would be ok on his own for a little bit she made her way back. She still hadn't seen Bro or Davesprite, were they here? God she hoped not, maybe they were looking here too. Maybe they were out doing coolkid things. Maybe they hadn't been played with.

Come to think of it she hadn't seen Vriska, Equius or Terezi for a while either. She lets out a sigh as she makes it through the foyer- somehow the stillness and emptiness made it worse than those places swarming with creatures. She holds her weapon out, frowning as she turns her head quickly. She swore she heard something- ugh, she didn't have time for this paranoia. She tried not to shudder when she remembered Eridan's face, bleeding from where his fins should be and his gills- whoever else was here needed to get out. Now.

Terezi was not pleased. She had failed in her duties to SHODAN. A heretic, unclean and unfit to even set foot in these halls, had somehow managed to break in and steal away one of the prisoners in the holding cells. Trespassing, theft ( ... )

Feferi stops dead, culling fork raising immediately at the threat. But the threat- no, something was wrong. Something was terribly, terribly wrong.

"Who-" She starts, before the details start to fall into place and her eyes widen in horror. "... Terezi?" No, it couldn't- it wasn't her. She was just... she was jumpy and everything with Eridan and- she swallows at the now ever present lump in her throat. Even with the changes she could recognize her friend.

"I've come to help you, stupid." She answers, knuckles ashen as she grips her weapon tighter and tighter. "Just- please, listen ok?"

These are a series of circular rooms. Someone seems to have spilled paint here - mustard yellow in one, royal purple in another... but the predominant color is ruby red. Hmm. Wait a second. That paint is awfully salty. And hey, what are those egg things in the corner...? Might want to watch out - one of these rooms contains an ogre.

To say she was jumpy was an understatement, everything in this place put her teeth on edge, from the walls to every single thing she'd witnessed. It would be more troubling if she wasn't so angry, god, she hadn't been this angry since-

That wasn't important.

What was important was finding people, or finding who did this, or something. Anything. She had spent days being useless while Dave and Sollux were getting hurt, there was no way that was going to continue, as much as those things got in the way.

She heads through the area, pausing at some of the colors as she passes the rooms. Yellow- that wasn't paint, that was Sollux's blood. But another color caught her eye, one that made the pit of her stomach sink. "... Eridan?"

She enters one of the rooms, that feeling in her stomach freezing to dread. "Eridan-"

Eridan's figure looked rather hunched, he had his back turned to her, and... he just seemed really small compared to everything else in the room. Legs pressed up against his chest, he tried to keep himself as close to his slightly shivering and aching body as he could. His breathing seemed really off, as if he was still trying to get his gills to work. No avail, he stopped promptly when he knew that they weren't going to open back up no matter what he did ( ... )

When she hears her name Feferi hurried forward, forgetting the extreme caution she had been practicing ever since she came in. She knows that voice, she knew it for sweeps and she had never heard that exact tone before. Eridan could sound pathetic sometimes but this- this was completely different.

She freezes when she finally gets a good look at him, eyes widening in horror. His... fins. They were- they were completely gone, and his neck was... It takes her a moment to regain herself, rushing forward again and dismissing her weapon to kneel next to him. All the conflict in her thoughts about Eridan were forgotten for the moment, she didn't even spare a thought to how he had cut her down, how he was supposed to be an enemy. Her moirail was hurt. Her- her ex-moirail.

"Eridan. Eridan, oh my god-" She starts, reaching out to touch where his fins should have been, not thinking.

BREEDING TUBES machine_god March 10 2011, 17:47:59 UTC
These are long hallways of tubes with humanoid shapes inside. It seems that these are the templates for SHODAN's creatures. Every so often, a claw descends from the ceiling, lifts one out of the tube, and sets it on a catwalk, whereupon a worm burrows into its flesh and it wakes up.

Hm. They seem to be looking at you. And occasionally a worm drops from the ceiling as an arm loses its grip...

HOLDING CELLS AND TRANSITION TANKS machine_god March 10 2011, 17:48:13 UTC
Deeper into the complex, a series of cells with force field doors line the walls. This is where you're likely to find some of your companions. They may be huddled in the corners, or they may be trying to get out themselves. One guarantee though - they are probably not the same as when they came in...

Or maybe you go further down the hall and find a series of tubes much like the ones before. Perhaps a friend of yours is inside, their mind in cyberspace, their body slowly being altered by the chemicals in the tank...

....anybody gonna save Jiji? blackcatjiji March 15 2011, 00:55:48 UTC
The bars on his cage were quite necessary, when they started out. He is, after all, a witch's cat, and therefore a little cleverer than most. But now, between the electrodes embedded in his skull and the IV tubes siphoning blood in and out, he probably couldn't get out an open door on his own, if one were presented to him.

Here lies Jiji, one very flat cat, playing his part as cats before him have, of the perennial mid-grant science project. He may open his eyes as you approach, but don't expect much in the way of coherency. He's pretty out of it, and as much made of wires and tubes as flesh, right now.

Motoko wasn't really sure why she'd thought this was a good idea. Oh, the plan had been solid- SHODAN needed dealt with, and Motoko hadn't ever disagreed with her, not really. The Methodology was harsh, but the stated ends almost moral. Almost noble. Almost like kidnapping children from abusive households for their own sake. Giving them a new life ( ... )

Frankly, he has no idea what he imagined when he knew he was going to kill Motoko. A grand chase throughout the station, with explosions and grand executions of melee battle between them? Or a quick murder while she was unaware?

When it came to his kills, he never fantasized, save for when he hunted down the gunmen that took his Irikah. That day, he fulfilled the daydreams, then fell back into the battle sleep. With Motoko, he just. Knew. Knew that he would slay her for this betrayal, for what was done to him.

No, when he arrives, she is hung like a doll. Wires binding her to a wall, her eyes glazed over like human vegetable.

Thane stares at her, then holds up his pistol.

"Motoko."

He wants her to be aware for this. But what he wants is rarely given.
