The screeching of alarms isn't something entirely unfamiliar to him; the last time he'd heard them, he'd been the one driving, with Dot's voice sharp and disapproving in his ear as he wheeled it around and crashed it into the Scarab. He never regretted doing that, not really, but it'd left him jumping just a little when the alarms had gone off the first time, shoulders tight with tension.

Instinct took over before logic, though, and when the Pelican dipped and he heard the Freelancer's voice mention the AA turrets. Son of a bitch.

Carter jerked himself over to Kat, hands gripping hers tightly as he tries to help her lift up the Pelican enough so it's not a solid dive that could kill all of them, cursing faintly under his breath when he realizes there's no saving it. "Brace yourselves!" he yells over the scream of the alarms and everything else, and the last thing he remembers thinking at that point is damnit he is really tired of crashing things ( ... )

As he'd said to the rest of the crew (and half hoping Tucker hadn't, in fact, been ready), Emile was ready for this. As if he'd never crashed in a Pelican before. Hell, it was about time they had a little excitement in this damn place.

Breaking armor lock as soon as it was safe to do so, he began to gather everyone from the scene of the wreckage. Except for the ODSTs, who were used to crash-landings as you had to be to make it in the 105th, everyone was wearing MJOLNIR or at least something resembling it, so he wasn't expecting anyone to actually be injured. But there were a few health packs around just in case, and Emile grabbed them in case anyone needed them.

WHAT'S GOING ON. WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE. WHERE AM I. noblefive December 3 2010, 05:12:55 UTC
While he couldn't honestly say he missed the crash landings, there was a certain part of him that was glad for something to finally be happening. No Spartan liked to be idle for too long, and he was no exception, but even as he disengaged armor lock and hauled himself out of the wreckage he felt far less enthusiasm than usual.

Everything about this fake Reach stunk, and he'd be happy when they recovered Jun and got the hell out of dodge.

With Emile grabbing health packs, Jorge turned his efforts to hauling out the equipment knocked loose from the wreckage, double checking each piece for any damage.

"Everyone still in one piece?"
