Garden Zone 3. Woodlands, cliffs, high mountains. Before the holograms it had even borne a resemblance to Reach, now holographic stormclouds roil low over the landscape, with the blue and purple bellies of Covenant ships hanging below them. Drop ships ferry Covenant troops, smoke rises on the horizon from battle sites that don't actually exist beyond the boundaries of the hologram. Elites, Jackals, Grunts, Brutes and all their assorted ground vehicles crawl over the landscape, and in the distance ONI's Sword Base rises from the ice.

Omega flies straight as an arrow for the base, the heat generated from his body rising as steam in the rapidly cooling air. The Covenant on the ground take notice as his shadow falls over them, some scattering in alarm or trying to fire on him, but he flies too high and too quickly. His passenger, carried in steel claws, is as well protected from the barrages as he would be inside an armored cage.

Like any true dragon from the fables, Omega flies to the tallest part of the base, holding Jun in one forepaw and clinging to the building with his talons, roaring out a challenge to anyone and everyone. His head swings, agitated and restless, looking for something that isn't there, and shoves off the building to swoop low and burn a path through screaming Covenant soldiers with his fire. The survivors clear out in a hurry, and Omega drops Jun unceremoniously onto the charred surface. For all that he'd singled out Jun to kidnap, Omega ignores the SPARTAN now, tail lashing, and quickly springs back into the air to circle the base like a vulture, attacking Covenant holograms at random or clinging to the top of the building and roaring a challenge to thin air. Every now and then he tries to fit his head inside building entrances and paws at them like a cat.

The inside of the base, should anyone venture inside, is in fact not ONI Sword Base, but an exact replica of Freelancer HQ, full of mute, helmeted sentries and automated guns and long, blue-lit corridors of storage chambers for AI. Distorted voices whisper from the walls, captive and damaged AI begging to be set loose, asking for their partners, asking for the Alpha, asking to be put out of their misery. Some voices are childlike, some angry, some singsong and confused.

A woman's voice is also audible in the corridors, alternately weeping and raging. Tex walks through the walls like a ghost, trailing her fingers over the glowing surfaces, the code patterns on her AI form shifting wildly in her instability. She looks confused, searching the hallways, one hand fisting in her insubstantial hair and pressing her temple.

One hand drifts over a holographic console, and every alarm in the place goes off as the base goes into lockdown. Doors lock, sentries sweep in patrols, and turrets arm themselves, looking for intruders. The Covenant legions outside go on alert, scanning for enemies, ranging themselves between any outsiders and the base. Omega coils himself around the highest tower, smoke rising from his nostrils and unlit napalm dripping from his jaws.
