Anyone else listening to Aimee's latest effort, The Forgotten Arm?

I was completely taken with Lost in Space but think this album is fantastic in a slightly different way. For some reason I think her vocals are the best on this new album than ever before...less droney maybe? Really enjoying it and like the story aspect of it.

This is one of my favourite new albums of the year, hands down, and it's great that I finally have it in my hot little hands..... and being as Karen is Canadian AND talented, I feel like sharing the goodness ( Read more... )

My recent fave is the lovely French-Canadian Jorane. I became acquainted with her music last Fall when a Canadian friend sent me a mix cd. Joseph Arthur, Neil Finn and Aimee Mann are my holy trinity of singer/songwriters :). Just saw Joe for the first time on monday and I was completely blown away... he is *phenomenal*! If he's playing near you check him out - you won't regret it! I think he's breaking from his own tour a few times to open for Wilco and then later R.E.M. this fall...

My favorite singer songwriters are: Tori Amos, Nelly Furtado, Bjork, and Res. I'm really getting into Butterfly Boucher (how I found the group) and Rachel Yamagata as well.

A singer/songwriter community is a great idea! I'm glad to see that Alanis is on the list... I'm going to see her live in July, which is going to be fantastic as always, I'm sure.
