Sadly, Matt likely will not even be considered for a SAG award because they only recognize Supporting Roles in FILM not on television for some weird reason. So unless something crazy happens during nominations Mark will likely be nominated in the TV Film or Miniseries category, but Matt will not.
And to add to the sadness the Golden Globes lumps series, limited series and movies made for TV into one category for supporting roles. So while it's possible Matt will get nominated he'll be up against everyone in any male supporting role, like Aaron Paul who just won the Emmy and freakin' Martin Freeman because the Sherlock people don't even know that he's not a supporting character but a second lead. UGH!
For the best part of two days, this travesty has consumed me. I can't understand it and I find myself grieving for the entire cast of The Normal Heart, and for Matt Bomer the most.
There's nothing wrong with Martin Freeman's performance in Sherlock, and in any other year, I'd be happy for the recognition he received, but his work doesn't touch the depth or breadth or skill that any of the other actors nominated. My apologies to the fans of Mr. Freeman, but his performance was completely and utterly outclassed by Matt Bomer, by Jim Parsons, by Joe Montello, by Alfred Molina, the way the Hope Diamond outclasses a piece of shattered bottle glass.
And that he didn't even have the class to show up for the industry's biggest night makes me angry to see his face on the same screen with the other actors.
Thank you for taking the time to put these words down - every time I tried to compose something to reflect my feelings, I started shaking.
Yes, all of this! I would have been really happy to see Martin Freeman win for S2 of Sherlock because he really broke my heart at the end there. But this? NOPE NOPE NOPE
