Good Lord, they just never die out, do they?

I feel a bit like Tony, who counts it as success when he's not accused of committing murder for a whole year.

Granted, it's a bit different in my case, but still.

I've just been accused of plagiarism by someone named "drtib". I don't even know that person. I also don't know which story I've allegedly plagiarized, or, as she (I'm assuming it's a she) ( Read more... )

argh!!!, ranting, bitchfest, fanfic, asshattery

I tried looking this person up, to see their fic, and I couldn't find them anywhere. *shrugs* Let me know if you find out more, okay?

Ruth gave me some info, so now (I think) I know who it is. Well, know might be too strong a word, I have seen the pen name before in the XF fandom, but I never read any of her stories. Considering the fact that, other than Virtual Sanctuary, my only other XF fic I've written in years was last year's big bang fic, I'm assuming she's talking about some NCIS fic instead. I haven't seen her name in the NCIS fandom before (not that I ever actively went looking or anything), so I'm guessing she's using a different name than she did in the XF fandom. Who knows? *shrugs*

Either way, being attacked like that, out of the blue, without any kind of actual information whatsoever, not to mention any proof, just tells me this person is completely nuts. I refuse to waste one more minute on her or her shit. It just really annoys me that this screwed up my writing plans for today. *grumbles*

Odd. Greentea aka drtib or drtib57 mostly writes parodies of other fan fiction so that would make the idea of accusing anyone of plagarism even stranger as her work in itself is a form of plagarism although one that is accepted for the most part.

That's her. I only actually know the pen name exists, but as far as I know, I never read any of her stories. Considering the fact that she apparently writes parodies of other fanfic would explain why I have stayed clear of her; that's the kind of thing that is really not my--ha ha!--cup of (green) tea.

You're absolutely right, that kind of "work" is a form of plagiarism, so her attacking me like this out of the blue for something I still don't know I supposedly did, makes it even worse. I mean... Pot? Kettle? Black? I for one would not accept it if she parodied any of my stories. If you want to write bad!fic or crack!fic, at least use your brain to come up with an original idea, don't make fun of other people's work. But that's just my two cents ( ... )

*blink* whoookay, sounds like an interesting weekend! If they're going to email about something so serious, share the damn info!

I'm sorry :(

Interesting is one way to describe it. I'd probably choose some other adjectives...*g* It took my friends to figure out who the person is since they recognized the "name" from part of an email addy--the email wasn't even signed! And even after directly asking for information, all I get is more abuse, but no story title or whatever. I'd say we know who's screwing up here, and for once, it ain't me. LOL!

And don't apologize. It's a sign of weakness. ;-P (Though I do appreciate the sentiment! *hugs*)

Some people run around playing those games, sadly :( I get one every six months abusing me with no information, just a "you steal your stories" thing :(

I know. :( I've been lucky up till now for the most part. I usually just get general hate mail ("you suck" or "your stories suck" or "you'll end up in hell for writing about gay men" and that sort of crap). I don't think you'll ever really get used to it. Not that I actually believe any of this nonsense, but it still, well, hurts a little. And is just so damn annoying.

Though, of course, in your case it's just sooo obvious that you're plagiarizing the whole time. *g* Not a single original idea in any of your stories. Nuh-huh. ;-P

OMG, I remember that!!! I just forgot it was her! But I do distinctly remember how intensely you kept headdesking after this betaing fiasco! You poor thing, you were ready to scream.

Well, it all makes more sense now. Yup, she's the crazy one. *rolls eyes*

Though I still want to know which damn story I'm supposed to have "stolen" from her. I know that there are a lot of readers out there who gush about the most horrific stories, so I'm sure she's got her audience (that's probably also telling her how wonderful and talented she is). That's all fine and dandy, to each their own and all that. You get what you deserve, ya know? But being accused like that without any actual information? Gimme a hint, dammit! I wanna see this poor abused story that got stolen! *shakes fist*

I remember that, Lorelei! You were so peeved.

As far as Greentea goes, I don't think she is into NCIS. She was/is still in X Files such as it is. She has parodied my schmoopy style several times. I actually don't like it, but try to ignore it.

I can't think of anything she had written that resembles anything Gaby has written.

"Peeved" is one way to describe it. *g*

Well, as I said above, I haven't actually written anything in the XF fandom except my bigbang fic last year, and Greentea ranted about being able to prove that her story was older since it's been on the net for about two years, so that's why I'm guessing it's some kind of NCIS fic. But I honestly don't know, since I wasn't given any hints. *shrugs*

As far as I'm concerned, a parody is something done with a tongue firmly in cheek, poking gentle fun at something that you actually admire and respect. I highly doubt that this is what she's doing (though I don't actually know since I've never read any of her stuff, it's just a hunch).

How annoying to not be given the name of an actual fic you supposedly stole from... Grrrrr!!! I don't believe it for a microsecond.

Asshat just about sums it up.

Asshattery is an art form! *solemn nod*

Since now I know who it is (with the help of my friends), I'm actually just peeved and not mad anymore. That person's known to be pretty crazy. But good grief, it's still annoying. *grumbles*

LOVE the ragin' bunny, though! Totally FTW! *icon love*

Okay, now I am butting in... I first opened the profile because I read one of your stories that was reccomended to me. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to read more. And I saw this post and recognised all the pen names that responded - and those are all authors of the stories I love.
Don`t let it bother you. There are all kinds of crasy people out there. First of all, as you said it, we play with someone else`s characters. And there are only so much `original` plots. It is the way you write it, combine the things and end it that makes all the difference.
The point of my ramble is - you`re great. All of you guys. And if the stories are similar, it is bound to happen. It is the quality of work and style that separates you from the rest.

Wish you all a great day. I`m off to read your stories now, Gaby, while drinking my first cup of coffee of the day.
