Prosperity Challenge - 7.2 (Days/Years 19-21 - Koepple)

May 31, 2008 17:36

A whole lot happened at the Koepples' during this time. It was a very eventful three years! Also, I updated the family trees. There are some minor spoilers since the trees are up to date and my updates aren't quite.

Marilyn and Ian were in a very interesting phase in their relationship. Marilyn never seemed to act her age. Ian thought she might be trying to prove to herself that she could handle being married to such a young man. Whatever the reason behind her seemingly boundless energy and enthusiasm, Ian couldn't really complain.

He was the one benefiting from her risque behavior, after all. That was one shopping trip he knew he'd never forget.

Anabel and Rochell could only roll their eyes at their grandmother's antics. They were old enough to appreciate how much she'd sacrificed to raise them all on her own. It was strange for them to be the only two kids left in the house. Anabel didn't regret not attending college, but she did feel awkward watching Rochell excel at everything she did and getting scholarships left and right.

She confided to Ian that she was thinking about getting a job. He was very encouraging and said he'd help her make a resume.

One afternoon, Rochell came home from school and found Marilyn staring at the wall. A ball of ice seemed to form in her stomach as she called her name and got no reply.

Rochell couldn't see what Marilyn was seeing - a skeletal figure robed in black and carrying a scythe. Marilyn knew what it meant. She'd been expecting it for some time now.

Rochell could only sob as her grandmother left her body behind.

It turned out that Marilyn had a very large life insurance policy. Neither Ian nor any of the girls had known about it. They decided Marilyn would have wanted them to improve their still meager living conditions, so they set to work remodeling the house.

The family dealt with their grief as best they could. Ian was never one to be alone for long.  ("Tiffany, did I really just see a robot walk by?" "You must be imagining things.")

Rochell decided she didn't want to leave for college without ever having been kissed. She knew Eli and Shena had been seeing each other, but he put up no real resistance to her advances.

And advance they did.

Anabel and Eli had had something together as well, once upon a time. But now Anabel had no one, and Rochell was leaving her, too.

Anabel was proud of her baby sister and all of her accomplishments. She thought Academie Le Tour would never know what hit them. She just wished she had something of her own to be proud of.

When the time came to celebrate her birthday, she was alone. Her sisters were all in college, except for Ria, who was too pregnant to go anywhere.

(Might need different eyebrows...)

Ian was very surprised to see her when he came home from work. Suddenly, it seemed he lived alone with a beautiful woman, instead of with Marilyn's two teenage granddaughters.

Anabel did not seem to share his awkwardness. She also didn't seem to be thinking of moving out on her own. Ian had a bad feeling that any potential dates he brought home were not going to understand his living situation!

Note:

Ian and Anabel have two bolts. Yuck! If I don't get her out of there, ACR is going to take over.
