It's morning. Simon has been awake for a little while yet; Kaylee is still asleep.

Though it's anyone's guess how much longer she will be, with the smells of coffee and cooking starting to pervade the little cabin.

Based on the way she's still huddled, lump-like, under the blankets, it looks as though it'll be a while.

[simon_doctor]

"I'm having a little trouble believing it myself," he says cheerfully, and reaches for the blackberry syrup.

"Which is why I made sure to get it on record."

Kaylee pauses with her hand on the honey.

"...what record."

[simon_doctor]

He drizzles syrup on his French toast, puts down the cruet, and picks up the vidcapture that was lying on the table behind the bowl of strawberries.

"This record."

The frozen frame in the corner of the capture is of the cabin's little kitchenette, and Simon in the act of cracking an egg on the edge of a bowl.

Kaylee regards it for a moment.

Looks up.

"So you didn't think I'd believe you, huh."

[simon_doctor]

"The possibility crossed my mind," he says with a rueful smile, cutting another bite of French toast.

Kaylee takes a bite of a honey-drenched strawberry.

"You did good," she manages.

[simon_doctor]

"Xiexie." He's grinning, a little helplessly.

"...I think I was actually more nervous about this coming out right than I am about my exam scores."

"You got more experience with exams than cooking," Kaylee says practically.

[simon_doctor]

"Exactly." A touch wry. "And a rather lower success rate with cooking."

More coffee.

[gonna_live]

"I wasn't gonna mention that part," she says.

[simon_doctor]

A sidelong smile. "I appreciate it."

[gonna_live]

She busies herself with breakfast.

[simon_doctor]

Simon takes another strawberry, follows Kaylee's example by dipping it in the honey, and chews happily for several seconds.

"So what do we want to do today?"

[gonna_live]

"Get some sun." Mildly, after a sip of coffee. "Swim a little. Sleep."

"...same thing we did yesterday, pretty much."

[simon_doctor]

"Sounds good."

There are about three bites of toast left on his plate; he spears one on his fork, scoots it around on the plate to collect the syrup smears.

"There's supposed to be a beautiful sunset view on the walking trail, not far from here. If we feel like taking a walk before dinner."
