Secrets are late - AGAIN.

People throughout the community wonder the hell is going on, and start to whine and complain and in general kick up a fuss, myself included.

I stated several times and in several places that it was my fault the secrets were late that week. I guess some people took it as snark that I mentioned why I had posted the secrets late, but I directly stated that it was my fault for having interpreted their silence in that way. I could have posted them without having heard back from any of them, but I chose not to because I thought I was being respectful of the fact that they had run the community without me for some time.

Oh, I think you mean my post asking if anyone knew where they were. I guess I was just being naive because I didn't know them; I was honestly a little concerned (not that they were all dead in a plane crash as I had joked, but still concerned). I didn't think anyone took that as me blaming them though.

Who's being brushed aside? I'm getting reamed up in here. xD

1) The only thing that failed about my "trying to be ~funny~" was that a few people thought I was serious or going to stick with that as an excuse for there not being any secrets up. I lol'd. xD

2) I don't agree that my comment in sim_sekritz was snarky. I mean, I happily handed over the entire community, and haven't left in a huff or anything. I thought it was interesting.

3) I think you not posting why I said "it's not my turn" shows some bias. I wasn't saying it to be snotty; I was trying to respectful of others wanting their turn.

Nice write-up overall though! I hadn't seen some of this stuff until you posted it.

I didn't think you were serious. BUT, a lot of people thought you were so, as I said, your joke didn't go over that well. :P

As far as #3, it doesn't matter WHY you didn't post them, honestly. It's YOUR community - that's it! If the other mods are not doing their job, then it's up to you to get it done. Honestly, nobody really cares WHY. They either want the secrets, or a post THAT DAY explaining why they're not up yet, you know?

And, for what it's worth, I find that you are handling the situation EXACTLY as you should, to minimize the drama fall-out. :P

You are right about that - I think you were sort of screwed no matter WHAT happened! Such is the way of the internetz. We've all been there, myself included. ;)

ETA: I didn't have a cry about it, I was showing concern and trying to understand why people were jumping on the bandwagon. Sorry that I don't go with popular opinion and like to be an individual.

I'm an individual, too. I actually was one of the first to start bitching about secrets not being posted on time. This week and the last time that it happened. I'm not following a crowd - I honestly think that when you elect to create and run a community, YOU'RE IN CHARGE, PERIOD, and you need to fulfill your responsibilities.

Is it only an LJ community? Yes. Not srs bsns. But it was the principle of the matter that always got my back up about the whole thing.

I'm one of those people that want to see all sides of the story before making judgement, but I couldn't even do that because my friendspage was flooded with everything that was going on. I don't go on MATY, so I never read anything on there, but I have seen Plum post on GoS. That's besides the point.

Running a secrets community isn't that easy. People are always on your back to post the secrets if you're off by one day. It doesn't take long to copy and paste the images, open up the update journal page and post the secrets, so I'm not sure why it's all on her.

The removing of Mods I didn't agree with. Had Plum of written the PMs BEFORE the removal, it would have been better, but for them to then turn around and make a mockery of her is really childish. After the treatment she got when she didn't know where the secrets were (not everyone is LJ savvy) I'm not surprised she removed them.

Of course it's just the internet, it's not srs bizz, but being kind really does go a long way :/

Really, I think running a secrets community would be SUPER easy. People submit, you post, the same day every week. If they're going to be delayed, you or somebody else posts and says why. That's it!

I do think the comments of the other mods towards Plum were a little childish and harsh, but maybe there was other stuff going on behind the scenes, I don't know.

And, although I don't always show it in the public communities, those people who know me do know that actually I CAN be very kind. :)
