THE PEASANTS REVOLT - NEW AND IMPROVED SIMSECRET THREAD

Jul 22, 2008 08:43

Secrets are late - AGAIN.

People throughout the community wonder the hell is going on, and start to whine and complain and in general kick up a fuss, myself included.

Over at MATY, Rohina tells Plum to get off her ass and post the secrets, wherein Plum replies: Not my turn, bb, but I already read them all, hur.Later, trying to be ~funny~, Plum ( Read more... )

secrets, say what now?, butthurt

Sigh.

ETA: I didn't have a cry about it, I was showing concern and trying to understand why people were jumping on the bandwagon. Sorry that I don't go with popular opinion and like to be an individual.

I'm an individual, too. I actually was one of the first to start bitching about secrets not being posted on time. This week and the last time that it happened. I'm not following a crowd - I honestly think that when you elect to create and run a community, YOU'RE IN CHARGE, PERIOD, and you need to fulfill your responsibilities.

Is it only an LJ community? Yes. Not srs bsns. But it was the principle of the matter that always got my back up about the whole thing.

I'm one of those people that want to see all sides of the story before making judgement, but I couldn't even do that because my friendspage was flooded with everything that was going on. I don't go on MATY, so I never read anything on there, but I have seen Plum post on GoS. That's besides the point.

Running a secrets community isn't that easy. People are always on your back to post the secrets if you're off by one day. It doesn't take long to copy and paste the images, open up the update journal page and post the secrets, so I'm not sure why it's all on her.

The removing of Mods I didn't agree with. Had Plum of written the PMs BEFORE the removal, it would have been better, but for them to then turn around and make a mockery of her is really childish. After the treatment she got when she didn't know where the secrets were (not everyone is LJ savvy) I'm not surprised she removed them.

Of course it's just the internet, it's not srs bizz, but being kind really does go a long way :/

Really, I think running a secrets community would be SUPER easy. People submit, you post, the same day every week. If they're going to be delayed, you or somebody else posts and says why. That's it!

I do think the comments of the other mods towards Plum were a little childish and harsh, but maybe there was other stuff going on behind the scenes, I don't know.

And, although I don't always show it in the public communities, those people who know me do know that actually I CAN be very kind. :)

Not always. You have those people that rush to meet the deadline and when I was managing one, I'd always check the original post to make sure there were no other secrets to be posted that week, because if you don't post them, you get the "WHER IZ MAI SEKRIT!!" posts and they are just annoying. They probably did it differently in SimSecret, I don't know.

Maybe there was something going on behind the scenes, but those comments really were uncalled for.

I know you can be very kind! I've seen your kind side, I wasn't really directing that at you, just people in general.

Yeah...I guess I never thought about that. That would get very old, very quickly.

While I understand their being upset about being removed without warning, their posts sounded sort of like something a 5-year-old would write. :/

And I do agree, there should be more kindness in the world. But this is the internet, and this specifically is a wank community. Not much kindness here. ;)

Believe me, it really did get old quick. You can't please everyone!

I didn't even bother to read the other threads, because I knew it would be much the same.

Not much kindness here. ;)
Not much kindness at all, we all love to be nasty. But my name was mentioned so I had to reply :P
