the tenses--- so strange.

shannon opened this morning, so 5 a.m. found me sleeping in before feeding the new fish (Petuna) and getting all reflective in a simplistic, journally way, which i haven't done for a very long time.

past-present:

I don't know any of the people you're talking about, but I know the feeling of re-reading old letters and journals and having them feel fresh. Almost like you're reading someone else's story...

very much like someone else's story. it's like looking at your past self, surprised that they have self-hood apart from the present, if that makes sense. like, how could i be whole without being here?

Same with novel writing. I like to look back on work I've done five years ago, and try to remember what I was feeling at the moment.
