When I was vegetarian, I got 1/3 of my protein from dairy. It's been a long, tedious adjustment. Fortunately this has been developing over the past 5-8 years, so I've had some time to change my overall habits rather than the allergic reaction that made me never touch mango again. I just hope that the current wave of severe intolerance passes and I can go back to not thinking about putting half&half in my coffee (now I do it but I think hard about how much). Because if anything goes in coffee it has to be real dairy.
Have you tried the Endangered Species bars? The panther bar (88%!) is a bit bitter for most, but that's one of my favorites. Also, they have a Snow Leopard Cubs bar!
I'll have to see if I can find them locally. I think I remember seeing them, but at the grocery store I can't go to as often on a grad student budget. :)
