What The World Eats

What The World Eats. A Time photo essay showing 15 families from around the world and the amount of food they consume in one week. Looking at this made me cry. Sometimes in sadness because of the small amounts of food consumed by some of the families but also in happiness because of the joy shown by some of the groups in their photos.

Yes, a very interesting link. Notice the bananas, who eats them, who doesn't.

This reminds me of when Anthony Bourdain eats meals prepared by local families on No Reservations. That's always my favorite part of each show.

I wonder if this is the same photojournalist that did something similair ten years ago or so. He would have families from around the globe pull out ALL their possessions onto their "lawns" and photograph that with the family members. It was an awesome photo essay ( ... )

The author, Helene Tremblay, is a French-Canadian and it was a good series - Families of the World - I think I read every one. It was amazing how little material goods some own and how much crap others have. She also lived with the family for awhile and told you what their average day was like. I think Miss Dee would enjoy them very much ( ... )

Whoops - that last book about the Netherlands appears to be a child's book. But the rest are for adults.

Those books look right up my alley. I love knowing what people have in their houses.

I haven't had a chance to check out the book to see the full range of families presented. What surprised me among these fifteen was the amount of soda some of the families consume in other countries especially the family from Mexico.

I love flatbread and peppers so I would definitely want to share a meal with them.
