As Promised--Sexier Mermaid

I feel like I need to do something fun, so stay tuned for crazy artwork. It's very possible that I may end up doing some Avatar: The Last Airbender fanart, though I don't promise anything. I just need to do something that isn't a mermaid, a boat, or water. (Well, I guess that cuts out a water bending Katara as an option for fanart. =/ )

Mermaaaaaid )

Well, it made a good point about water as well. Since Water+Fire has to be in balance, like Air+Earth, before that episode Water seemed the weakest element, because of it's limitations. Ordinarily, Fire and Water are balanced because they're both not found everywhere. BUT. In this world, Fire comes from within. So, if you're a fire bender, you've got Fire. But, what about Water? So, all they did was point out that if you have ANYTHING AROUND YOU, you've got Water as a water bender. And balance is again established (like the hint before of Katara using her own sweat).

Plus, that episode was beautifully animated. =D

Definitely. They did show us, after all, that metalbending was possible, and we live a lot on the water inside us, so it made a lot of sense to show how powerful waterbenders can be through bloodbending. Unnghh, the finale of the first season always gives me shivers when the full moon comes out. I do wish it came more into play than it did though - since Toph started using it everywhere, I wish they'd've been able to come across more people who used that darker side than just the one.

Yeah, because metal bending seemed like one of those things of, well...yes, metal is like it's own separate "element" but...it's got a deep connection to earth. Just like how plants (trees) have a deep connection to water, even in Chinese lore, "wood" is its own element. I thought the whole Swamp Benders and Sand Benders was amazingly clever of them ( ... )

Well, she still has the little fish hair ornament thingies, at least. I thought that was a nice touch. xD

I get what you're saying about feeling like you're 'selling your soul' a little bit. If it makes you feel any better, I'm at least one guy who doesn't go for the typical features 'most guys' seem to be obsessed with. T^T

This reminds me of what the other person who's been commenting on my journal entries about body image says. She always comments that "by today's standards" I'm attractive, but using that phrase is so not true! I'm short, not athletic in any way, and I wear a size 7 jeans! Like, I have my eyes going for me, and T&A (the A further accentuated by having deformed lower vertebrae that gives me swayback, as if I'm pushing my ass out), but I am NOT "today's standards" hot. I'm "kinda like Athena though not as extreme with the tits and I don't have her calves and I'm not alluring like she is, I look more like a cute, innocent tease" hot. XD

I DEFINITELY don't like that open-mouth look. Nope. Not in the drawing, and not IRL. The only thing I envy about models is their arms.

I think we've talked about this before--the fallacy of thinking that "big boobs" are "in" to the extent that if you have them, then you're set. It's not even remotly true--all the people we hold up as the epitome of our cultural beauty are ALL small chested, because they're all SO THIN. We can't wear half the clothes that are produced because they're not MADE for large chested girls with smallish waists! Half the time, just finding a dress that FITS is a near miracle. Finding one that fits and that I *LIKE* is a real miracle blessed by Baby Jesus and Buddha himself ( ... )
