The problem with being a part-time student.

Jun 10, 2008 15:54

I finished filling out and mailing off my paper work to ACS Education. Otherwise known as the people who took over when PHEAA decided to pull out of the loan business. I've lost count of how many times I've had to ask for a deferment on my loans because I was still in school. Loans don't have to be paid back while in school (as long as a student is ( Read more... )

Man, after skimming through those first two paragraphs, I was about to start shaking in my sandals! Thank goodness it was kind of a mistake on their part, though I know their desperate for cash with the unstable economy. But good luck with that.

And your neighbors destroyed your flowers? This is like a declaration of war, I think. Make sure you raid their property too. Take the hyenas with you!

They started this while I was there. I gave advice as best I could, based on my previous experience with landscape gardening, but if this is what's going to happen with all the plants, then I might as well advise a more high tech solution than just pruning and gentle care.

What would be the "high tech" solution? O_o

Yeah, I'd like to know what this high tech solution is too. Does it involve building a giant robot guard of some kind? That might be a good idea...

Man, and here I thought my neighbors were bad.

I've had some interesting problems with the holders of my student loans ( ... )

Actually... I got the consolidation loan some time ago back when PHEAA still handled my loans and grants. When they dropped out of the loan business thanks to the credit mess a company of Sallie Mae ended up taking over my loans. So yeah, there's not much I can do on that front.

Hmm... I'll definitely look into my loan, since I've told the holders repeatedly that I was still in school when they tried to get me to pay. It is a bit suspect that they'd only give me a month to pay after my graduation. I sent in the deferment paperwork just in case, but I may have to keep calling. Maybe I'll even get someone with an accent that I can fully understand. =p

Who's the guarantor agency in Pennsylvania?

I think it was PHEAA but I'll have to look into that to be certain.

I trust that most of your loans are subsidized? The non-subsidized ones can be worse, because you get occasional (seemingly random) notices regarding the accrued interest. What caused me some grief was the couple of summers that I was between universities, and not taking classes.

Eitherway, I wish you the best with the loan situation. As for neighbors, the police congregation seems like it'd be very amusing to watch, at least.

The majority of my loans are subsidized, yes. Though on the unsubsidized ones I was paying on the interest while I was in school, and those payments were very random. Still, everything was going well until the domino effect from the subprime housing mess turned full blown credit crisis.

Thanks, Nex! Next time the police come I'll be sure to get the popcorn. Unless guns come out, then I'll take cover. O_o
