I finished filling out and mailing off my paper work to ACS Education. Otherwise known as the people who took over when PHEAA decided to pull out of the loan business. I've lost count of how many times I've had to ask for a deferment on my loans because I was still in school. Loans don't have to be paid back while in school (as long as a student is at least half-time) and for six months after graduation a borrower is supposed to receive a six month grace period. Despite JUST graduating last month, ACS must have forgotten this or willfully looked over that little detail, as they've started charging me for my loan, with my first payment due on the 14th of this month. It took me six years to finish school instead of four, so I suspect the problem lies with my uncertain graduation dates. I called a representative, and they skirted the issue of the grace period, and instead decided to give me a deferment.
Since I met all of the requirements for economic hardship I had to go with that. The paper work probably won't make it in time, so I suspect more phone calls and more reminders of that grace period on my behalf. Thanks currently strong credit-based American economy, your many complexities has made life a little easier once again!
Also, for no apparent reason our neighbors have decided that we shouldn't be allowed to have nice plants and flowers in our front yard. They've kindly taken to pouring hot water on all of our plants, making them wilt, even as they plant and cultivate their own flowers. Because you know, sabotaging people you've never taken the time to even say hello to and have caused nothing but grief over the past six years for no apparent reason is what being a true neighbor is all about.
On the upside when those drunken parties of yours go awry and police armadas show up (last count was about police 15 cars outside of the house) I'll be sure to enjoy all of the entertainment, especially when the batons come out. Though the temptation to dig a hole and flood your entire flower bed with anti-freeze and/or motor oil is very strong, but I'll let things like karma sort you out.
