I promise I'm not dead. I'm not even out of the country, traveling for work, on a road trip, or fasting from the internet. I'm just reading a lot and writing a lot and knitting a little, and have generally nothing to say for myself this week. Which is, you know, always great.

So, I didn't get eaten by bears in Tahoe. Really. More like three days of software training, a company picnic, a houseguest, a Giants game, and a certain 759-page novel (plus the 652-pager before it), which I finished about ten minutes ago. But I'm back now, I think.

I just finished The Eyre Affair. What a frustrating book! I thought the last hundred pages or so were pretty brilliant, but the 250 before that were, frankly, a bit of a slog. Is it just because I'm a dork about Jane Eyre? Possibly, but I also think that a novel called The Eyre Affair should have more Eyre and less...whatever else was going on ( Read more... )
