I love today.

Do you get BBC America? I think it airs on Saturdays, and they're about two weeks behind the UK airing. Not sure where you can watch the first two episodes online legally, though. I do recommend it if you can get it, though! Eleven and Amy are pretty fantabulous.

Hokay! Thanks for the straightening-out. Surely Tivo can tell me about this, right? As for the existing episodes, if I were VERY cool, I could probably spoil myself thoroughly via Tumblr.

Excellent.

Sounds like a great day!

And since I seem to go to you for all my Chuck news: is tonight's the first new one in a while? Or did I miss one somewhere along the way?

It IS the first new one in awhile--if the last thing you saw was Chuck and Sarah disappearing under the duvet in their Paris hotel room, you're good. :)

I need structure in my life now that I have no lectures to create it for me. Do you have tips/how-to manuals on this, oh Freelancer?

Um. Establish a Life Goal, and make sure to feel mildly guilty anytime you aren't doing something in direct pursuit of that Life Goal?

Really, though, I find that routine is super helpful to me in terms of staying on track--like, I know in advance that I'm getting up and running on days X and Y, and that I need to be back, showered, fed, and starting to work by 10 a.m. Lunch at time Z, during which I'm allowed the TV show of my choice. During work periods, I try to divide my work into long-term work (finishing scripts, working on other creative writing) and short-term work (finding and applying for freelance jobs in order to make some money). If I'm starting to drift, I leave the house--either go somewhere with an internet connection or go somewhere WITHOUT an internet connection so I have nothing to do but write.

Also: to-do lists. Totally necessary.

Good luck, oh lectureless one!

Sounds like a good weekend. Yay!

On an unrelated note: I seem to have left behind my "watching slowly" ways with The Wire. I finished up season 1 on Friday night, and um..am almost done with season 2. Like, I have one more episode. And, two things: 1.) OMG, it really is the best show ever, just like everyone says (though I still like season 1 better, even with Amy Ryan being awesome, and more Bunk) 2.) It's driving me nuts that, even though it's SO good, it's also like, the most depressing show EVER. And yet I keep watching. WTF?

Aaaaagh, you're totally going to beat me to the end. I *am* making reasonable progress through S4, though. Baby steps. (But it's so good. OMG.)

1.) OMG, it really is the best show ever, just like everyone says (though I still like season 1 better, even with Amy Ryan being awesome, and more Bunk)

1a.) Bunk! I love Bunk!

1b.) Prediction: You're gonna LOVE season three.

2.) Okay, roll call. Who are your favorite characters?

2.) It's driving me nuts that, even though it's SO good, it's also like, the most depressing show EVER. And yet I keep watching. WTF?

Apparently season four is the most heartbreaking, and...I am not surprised by this. I can feel the bad things brewing for my sweet middle-school boys! And yet. I can't leave it alone.

Well, I'll probably back off some this week, cause, you know, life. But yeah, I'll probably beat you. :)

Favorite characters, hmm. This is hard. So far, though: I love Jimmy, obvs, because he's hot and a rogue. I LOVED D'Angelo and Wallace, and it was awful because you could see their fates coming for 'em. Um, Omar, obviously, is awesome. And, OH! I love Lester Freeman and Prez. I also really loved Beaddie (sp? Amy Ryan) and I'm sad because I thought she was on it more than she actually is. I mean, I know she shows up later, but I thought it's be on a more regular basis. You?

So, even though I'm loving it, I think because I watched the end of season 1 and all of season 2 so close together - did you notice that both seasons basically end the same way? That kind of irked me. I get that it's a losing battle and no good guy is ever really going to come out on top, but c'mon.

UGH, WALLACE. I loved him so much.

You?

Disclaimer: Really, I love everybody. But.

My two favorites, I think, are Bubbles and Prez. I love Bubbles because he's such a good-hearted and decent guy, and because if his circumstances were just a little different, he could so easily get clean. I love Prez because he's basically a dumbass who finds what he loves--basically, he's a nerd. (That said, you'll see things change for Prez a little ways down the road--and that's all I'll say.)

But then I love Bunk, and I love Omar (especially in court), and I love Dennis, and I love Jimmy, and I love Beaddie (whose name I also don't know how to spell), and I loved Nicky, and I hated Zig but I loved his duck. I also love a character in season four, Duquan, but I can see already that he's going to cause me pain. This can only end in tears.

(Also, re: Prez, I think a large part of what The Wire does well is making great characters out of people who are actually total dumbasses: Prez, but also Jimmy and occasionally ( ... )
