Scattered thoughts, scattered brain

- When my alarm went off this morning, I had a hard time getting it to shut off. But it was getting louder and louder (it does that) and the cat outside my bedroom door was getting louder and louder (he does that, too), and so I shut it off and got up and started going about my morning routine. I was in the kitchen, putting water on to boil, when I ( Read more... )

Ha! That's...crazy. And kind of funny, but it probably wasn't at the time.

lol! There was this video on America's Funniest Home Videos once, where this kid took a nap and thought he'd slept all night, so his parents went with it, and it was 8 PM and his dad was driving him to school, and they stopped to talk to their neighbor for a second, and he was like, "So, where you heading?" and the kid said it was the first day of school. And the neighbor said, "Really? what kind of school is it?" and the kid was like, "A regular one..." and the neighbor says, "At 8:00 at night?" and the kid looked at his dad like, "WHA?" and his dad just started cracking up.

Also, PLEASE keep me updated on your YA literature exploits! I will do pretty much anything to get my girls to read something other than Twilight.

Will do. I'm trying to think of good recommendations (non-work-related) and am totally failing. But let me ponder: I looooove recommending kids' books.

My friends with cats always remind me that cats are solitary creatures and are self-caring by nature. So as long as you're not TOTALLY abandoning Sherlock I'm sure he'll get used to the routine ;)

This makes me feel better. The thing is, either option makes me want to cry: I don't want to give him back, but I don't want to doom him to a life of boredom and loneliness, either.

Yay you're coming! Woohoo!

But of course you shouldn't give him back, he just got there and he's still settling in.

And in that sense, he's doing fine. In fact, it's nothing he's doing wrong that's making me second-guess this decision; it's more that every time he wanders around, meowing, I think, "Oh no! He must be bored!" However, your reassurance is much valued and much appreciated.

My friends in Halifax with cats have arranged stools/rubbermaid bins around by some of their windows because little Merlin likes to watch out the window, then report back.

I do have excellent windowsill space, which he seems to enjoy. He doesn't have a bed--his foster mom said he wasn't really a bed cat, though I'm thinking of felting one for him anyway--but he's claimed various soft surfaces around the apartment for himself (he seems especially fond of the dining-room chairs, I think because he can wedge himself between the chair and the table. He likes small spaces.).

Anyway. Again, thanks for the sense-/pep-talking.

Aw, you get to read YA books at work? Awesome! I want to do that for a job. Oh, Ponyboy.

For a little while, yeah. It's fun. :)

Oh, Ponyboy.

Oh, Ponyboy, indeed. He and Johnny KILLED me. And Cherry Valance. Also, I now get Veronica Mars's "Be cool, Sodapop" line, and feel much smarter.

Had you never read it before? Oh man, so good! If you are ever on a YA kick, I recommend her other books, too. I haven't read them in forever, but they're all great. (The Outsiders is, of course, the best. I always cry when I get to the end, after everything that happened, and Ponyboy starts writing, and you realize you've just read his story.)

I hadn't. And I can't believe she wrote it as a high school student! Amazing.

I know! I thought the whole thing was pretty sad, though. I was trying to hold it together in case anybody stopped in to visit me. :)

Hee! Quincey stands outside my bedroom door and meows pitifully as soon as she hears me moving around. And, um, yay for getting 6 hours more sleep? Yikes.

Oooh...Can I have your job? I love YA fiction, and the idea of going through books to find the best ones sounds awesome. (And I'd like to see that list when you're done with it, if possible. Or maybe just some recs.)

And...woe. WOE on Bones not being on this week. Also, no Chuck until next week. SO MUCH WOE.

It's totally fun. I am not complaining about this assignment at all.

Certainly!

WOE on Bones not being on this week. Also, no Chuck until next week. SO MUCH WOE.

I know. I mean, I love Lost and 30 Rock and such, but...all of my apparent "fun shows" are off this week. Also, the wait for Chuck has been killing me. I've totally missed it. SINCE DECEMBER. Argh.
