Yes, I liked it too and for many of the reasons you mentioned.

I've rewatched it a couple of times now and it has a really big feel to it. Like a movie. In the back of my head, I thought that maybe there's some kind of little competition or 'rub-off' from Continuum, which supposedly has a big feature feel to it.

For all the things I feel like they've gotten wrong or off about this show, this conclusion just felt really good. I feel like I got everything I wanted out of it and that so rarely happens.

Yes, the whole thing was incredibly satisfying! We got big arc conclusions and lovely little character moments and it was all woven together incredibly well. For all the bitching we all do with regards to the show, this just shows what *can* be done with it. For me, just about every note hit exactly right ( ... )

It was a good episode and I agree on your observations. I've always been a John/Teyla sort and the connection between the two of them, even given the presence of the baby's father, etc, was palpable. And John with the baby in the Dart? Awesome.

I agree, there's always been a little something between Teyla and John. What seemed apparent to me, especially in the final infirmary scene between them (and it took me way too long to twig to the fact that Teyla's words there were almost identical to her words in John's dream), is that John doesn't want to burden? if that's the word, Teyla with his attraction to her. And he has immense respect for her and doesn't want to... complicate things for her. Dude, he wouldn't even *look* at her when she was thanking him in the infirmary. Sort of made me want to slap him, but hey, it's John and I accept that just the way he is. But then he snaps out of it and says he'd be honored that Teyla wants to give her baby his name.

What I found *really* fascinating was in listening to the commentary on the Quarantine DVD is that TPTB actually considered, however briefly, making John the father of Teyla's baby. I'm not sure how seriously it was considered and to be honest, I think many fans, including myself (despite not being an actual proponent of ( ... )

As far as baby Daddy, I'm glad they went the route they did. It was very believable that Teyla would have a relationship with one of her own people. As much as I like John/Teyla, it would have done a huge disservice to their dynamic to have John as the father. Of course, my worst fear was that somehow Michael would be the father and that just squicked me out completely.

Just finished watching it.

As I was watching, I just knew you'd loved snarky Lorne in the beginning. Because, well, yes. (And I'll admit I was rather afraid he'd die or something horrible in the collapse. Because I'm a spoiler-phobe and thus know really NOTHING about s5.)

Words cannot express how much I loved Sam in full-on commander mode. And that's why the scene with Woolsey (okay, I knew she was leaving, because I know Sanctuary is getting picked up) at the end just hurt. Because she totally rocked this, looked like she was finally comfortable in her own skin there, was the commander Atlantis needed and respected, and then the IOA just threw her aside. (And makes me irritated because, dammit, Sam never gets to really be a commander. Yes, s8, I'm looking at you.)

I was pretty worried about Lorne at the end of the last ep. Because yeah, it could happen. I haven't read any specific spoilers regarding him, but I do know that he appears in more eps from his latest Gateworld interview. No idea which ones they are or anything, just that he's still around, so not dead.

Yeah, I was pretty delighted with his interaction with Rodney.

The DVD commentaries for Season 4 have been really enlightening in regards to some complaints we've all had about Sam's usage. Yeah, we all would have loved to see more of her in command mode, but there were some limitations to her appearances. Not saying I agree with how it was handled, but it does make some sense. Amanda is on a LOT of the commentaries, so that was really nice. She's just so cool and generous with her fans. Joe M has made it clear that no one gets paid for doing the commentaries and it takes a fair amount of time from busy actors to do them.

But most of this ep was a great send-off for Col. Carter.

I really enjoyed the ep, too. I thought the story was good, made sense, and the characters were all awesome. I'm actually excited to watch the next ep, which...yeah. Wasn't so much last year.

I'm... a bit more reserved about the next ep because I have, er... mixed feelings about Beckett. I'm sort of hoping I can get over if the ep is anywhere near as good as this one was.

I was very sad to see Sam go and I'd be all kinds of pissed if it hadn't been Amanda's choice to go do Sanctuary. But Woolsey promises to be interesting, if not outright as enjoyable as Sam and Weir were.

Shows thrive on conflict of one kind or another and boy, does Woolsey bring conflict. Between his past experiences and the new ones he'll have, he's got a tremendous potential for growth. I think it could be interesting to see how that comes about.

I really like Robert Picardo, so I'll admit that that influences my willingness to give it a shot. I was offended for SAM, but not for AT, if that makes sense. So that's nice.
