I agree, there's always been a little something between Teyla and John. What seemed apparent to me, especially in the final infirmary scene between them (and it took me way too long to twig to the fact that Teyla's words there were almost identical to her words in John's dream), is that John doesn't want to burden? if that's the word, Teyla with his attraction to her. And he has immense respect for her and doesn't want to... complicate things for her. Dude, he wouldn't even *look* at her when she was thanking him in the infirmary. Sort of made me want to slap him, but hey, it's John and I accept that just the way he is. But then he snaps out of it and says he'd be honored that Teyla wants to give her baby his name.
What I found *really* fascinating was in listening to the commentary on the Quarantine DVD is that TPTB actually considered, however briefly, making John the father of Teyla's baby. I'm not sure how seriously it was considered and to be honest, I think many fans, including myself (despite not being an actual proponent of that pairing-I'm not a detractor, either), would feel incredibly cheated as to just how *that* had come about.
As far as baby Daddy, I'm glad they went the route they did. It was very believable that Teyla would have a relationship with one of her own people. As much as I like John/Teyla, it would have done a huge disservice to their dynamic to have John as the father. Of course, my worst fear was that somehow Michael would be the father and that just squicked me out completely.
