This primer is awesome! And I'll definitely check out the recs. I've been shipping Chuck & Bryce pretty much since he showed up on the show, but for some reason I'd never sought out any fic. Now I can remedy that! :D

Thank you, glad it's been helpful. I was that way for a long time - shipping them but not looking for fic - but I was SO GLAD when I got around to it because there are some awesome stories for this pairing.

I've never heard of the show before, much less the pairing, but reading it was a beautiful thing. I might go check out some of the links, even though the tragedy of the pairing gets to me a bit :( What a great job you've done here, painting it out so well.

WOW, saw this just when I was thinking people should ship Bryce/Chuck more. They are after all the CORE of this story!!
Your manifesto details every moment between these two and makes me want to re-watch the episodes you have mentioned. :)
"Chuck Versus the Alma Mater" is no doubt one of my favorite. Not simply because there are so many memories of Chuck and Bryce in it, but also because it is beautifully sad. They are the happiest back in college, but now they both have responsibilities and obligations to worry about. I wish the show could give us some more Bryce/Chuck in the future (possibly as in flashback), and I should take a look at the fics.

Thanks for writing this. You give me reasons to love them more.

Such a beautiful and tragic pair... If only they can work as a team, it will be the awesomest awesomeness!;D

THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS.

just the other day i whined, "why can't sarah and casey get sent on a mission and bryce takes on chuck as his spy partner???? and then chuck can be all about the adventures of bryce and chuck: super spy partners!!"

:P

but seriously. i would watch that show. how epic would that be.

I love this so, so much. And I definitely agree that Chuck/Bryce is canon, at least from Bryce's POV. (Honestly, the whole series makes much more sense if you look at it from the view that pretty much every single character is in love with Chuck. XD)

Your outtakes about "re-interpreting canon" make so much sense to me; the first time I watched it, I couldn't help but notice that ambiguity, the way outwardly, Bryce was going after Sarah, but it was all a means to an end, all about how reminding her how she felt about him, and in the end, none of it was as important as Chuck. Bryce just wears his emotions on his sleeve, at least towards Chuck, and I've always thought his feelings towards Chuck were really obvious. He clearly cares about him more than anyone.

And I have to admit that part of what draws me to the pairing is how bittersweet it is, how tragic, how it's all about what could have been, all about those lost years and betrayals and sacrifices. I was surprised when I first discovered the demographics of the fandom, ( ... )

I'm exactly the same as you in that this is not my usual pairing. I see pairings when there is a great play between two characters - possibly because I myself find humour to be extremely attractive - so I ship pairings like Jack/Daniel (SG1), John/Rodney (SGA) and Arthur/Merlin because that kind of joking, affectionate relationship is what I see as ideal. Anway. There was a point to that ramble ( ... )

And of course the romantic in me wants a happy ending for them, which is possibly why I've latched onto the idea of Neal Caffrey/Chuck (the Ring brought Bryce back to life and brainwashed him - Kate was totally a Ring agent. It could happen).

AND NOW I NEED THIS. BADLY.

Lol. I may or may not have some ideas rolling around in my brain. If it does happen, it will more than likely just be a series of drabble-y oneshot type things, since I fail at writing actual story. Want me to let you know if something does take form?
