Outside the University Hall at SUNY Albany.
Melissa tapped her foot impatiently as she stood outside the mirrored building that stood over the holding cell that held her new friends. Sam stood next to her, rubbing her hands to keep herself warm. Both had been waiting for several minutes for Julie to arrive.
“Where the hell is she?!” Melissa asked in exasperation.
“She said she needed to stop somewhere and get something.” Sam reminded her. Melissa rolled her eyes.
“God, what is she getting? A Sherman Tank?” Melissa asked, sarcastically.
“More like getting things for the guys!” a voice replied from behind Melissa, causing her to spin around to see who it was.
Julie stood wearing her down jacket, two plastic bags in each hand and with her purse slung over her shoulder. But she was not alone. Three people were with her.
“Oh Christ, Julie, you brought your fricking family with you!?” Melissa moaned, slapping her forehead with her hand. Julie narrowed her eyes at her friend.
“Give her a break, Melissa.” Will, Julie’s older and only brother, told Melissa. He was tall - around six feet tall - with short brown hair darker than Julie’s and blue eyes. He, too, wore glasses, and along with a brown leather fedora and brown leather jacket, he looked like Indiana Jones’ stunt double. He had two bags in one hand, the other holding a laptop holder.
“Besides, they cornered me and forced me to tell the truth.” Julie added.
“And you TOLD them!?” Melissa asked incredulously.
“Well if YOU hadn’t instant messaged me the images when they were talking to me, then MAYBE I wouldn’t have told them!” Julie snapped.
“Break it up, you two.” Janet, Julie’s mother, interrupted the argument. Janet was short, blonde and had blue eyes like her son. She, like her children, wore glasses, and also was carrying two bags along with her black purse.
“Sor-ry!” Melissa huffed, turning away.
“So what did you guys get?” Sam asked, trying to steer away from another argument.
“Just some blankets, snacks, things to help them out… if this is real.” Will shot Julie an annoyed look. Julie shot back a glare at her brother.
“It is real, Will. Trust me on this.” Sam told the taller boy.
“Well then, are we going to meet these guys or are we gonna stand out here and freeze our asses off?” Robert, Julie’s father, asked. He was about the same height as Will, with graying brown hair, a short gray goatee, and brown eyes. He was a bit overweight and, like the rest of his family, wore glasses. He also walked with a slight limp due to past surgery on his leg. He had three bags in his hands - two in one, one in the other.
“Yeah, let’s go.” Julie agreed, enthusiastically, jogging in place to keep the blood circulating in her body.
“Right, follow us, Sanders Family!” Melissa added, heading for the door to the University Hall.
Cell room - a little while later.
Greg lifted his head from its resting spot on his forearms. “Did you guys hear something?” he asked out loud, looking around from his spot by the table.
“What, is it Lolita, again?” Brad asked tiredly from his spot on Colin’s cot. Colin struggled to sit up slightly.
“Why would she be here again? Gloat over our captivity for the 1553rd time?” Colin asked annoyed.
“Well, I dunno about you guys, but I’m ready to kick some tail and get the heck out of here!” Greg stated, cracking his knuckles as he stood up. Brad snorted, trying not to laugh and Wayne giggled.
“‘Tail?’” Chip repeated with a laugh. Greg shoots Chip a dirty look that pretty much said “Don’t fuck with me because I can’t swear!” as he walked over to the door. He positioned himself on the side where the door swung outward, ready to strike the visitor, when the group of seven heard a familiar voice.
“Drew? Guys? You ok in there?”
“That’s that girl, Samantha.” Drew remarked, recognizing the voice.
“That means… LISSY!” Brad exclaimed, shoving Greg out of his way as he ran to the door and looked through the small window.
Melissa peered through the window with a smile on her face. “Hiya guys! Hey, Bradley.” Melissa winked saucily at the man in front of her. A gagging noise came from Melissa’s side of the door. Melissa shot a glare off to the side. “Grow up, Julie!”
“I will once you stop flirting with guys older than you!” Julie shot back. Greg walked back to the door and bumped Brad out of the way.
“Didn’t think you three’d be back here.” Greg told truthfully. Melissa’s smile became slightly lopsided.
“C’mon, Greg. You’d really think we’d abandon you talented and good looking guys in your time of need?” Melissa asked. Julie gently moved Melissa out of the way so she could look through the window.
“Besides, we brought help and stuff for you guys.” Julie added.
Wayne looked a bit hopeful. “Who’d you bring?” he asked. Julie blushed slightly.
“Erm… My Parents and my brother.” Julie answered shyly. Greg gave the brunette an “Are you serious” look.
“You… brought your family?” Greg asked skeptically.
Will moved the girls out of the way and stood in front of the window. “Hey, don’t blame her for this. We cornered her and got the truth out of her and we agreed to help you guys out.” Will explained coldly, defending his sister.
“But we will help you all out.” Janet added from behind Will.
“Uh... thanks?” Brad said, a bit surprised, but confused.
“FUCK! She changed the damn locks!” Melissa cursed, kneeling in front of the door. Just as she said, a larger lock had replaced the one from the other day. She opened her purse and pulled out a hairpin. “But I think I can still trip it.” She continued, getting into position to pick the lock.
“Are you sure, Melissa?” Samantha asked.
“As long as she doesn’t switch over to a card swipe lock, then I can trip it.” Melissa replied, going to work on the lock.
“This is sooo illegal.” Will stated, looking around warily. Robert glanced at his son.
“What this Lolita woman is doing to these men is illegal, Will.” Robert explained to Will.
Will took a moment to consider that option and nodded, making a face. “Good point.” Julie got back by the door window.
“Are Ryan and Colin…?” Julie asked, troubled and worried about the two men.
“They’re ok for now, babes.” Greg answered, pushing up his glasses. Julie sighed in relief, a smile on her face.
“So they had that advancement thing? How far are they, now?” Sam asked, standing next to Julie.
“I think its Seven months now.” Chip recalled.
“Jesus…” Janet whispered to herself.
“So we don’t have to worry about that Lolita woman, right?” Robert asked, almost channeling the feelings and worries of his family and their two friends.
“Well, for now, at least.” Drew confirmed.
“Great.” Will muttered, turning away and walking around a bit. Sam glanced behind Julie over at Melissa, who was still working swiftly on tripping the lock.
“Got that thing tripped yet?” Sam asked, frowning.
“Just a… few seconds, Sammie… c’mon you God damn piece of…” A click and a small clunk as the lock fell off. Melissa grinned. “Boo-ya!” She pulled open the door with all her strength and ran into the room. Will grabbed the door before it shut itself and shot a “What was that” look at Sam and Julie.
“You don’t wanna know…” Julie warned.
“Don’t forget to prop the door with our jackets and purses. We don’t want to lock ourselves in here.” Sam told Julie’s family. Will and Sam placed their laptop holders by the door while Julie and Janet placed their purses in the same place. Everyone placed their jackets at the door before entering the cell.
Will finally got a good look of the room once inside and saw Drew, Greg, Wayne, and Chip. “Oh man…this IS real!” he whispered, putting the plastic bags down on the table with Robert.
“Told you.” Julie smirked slightly, walking up to her brother.
“Where’s Melissa?” Janet asked, looking around. She then stopped her search when she saw Melissa hugging Brad, who was hugging her back.
“Hi Lissy.” Brad smiled sweetly.
“Hey Sugar Bradley.” Melissa grinned sexily. Will turned to Julie, raising an eyebrow.
“Don’t ask…” Julie told him, holding up a finger to stop him.
“My God… what happened to you people?” Robert asked, looking around the room while walking up to Drew.
“A lot.” Wayne said bluntly. Janet turned to the corner where Ryan and Colin were resting on their cots; the curtain was pulled back showing them. She walked quickly over to them, Julie following her with a worried look on her face. Julie was dreading the worst when Janet see’s how bad of shape Ryan and Colin were in.
However, once she was closer to the two, she approached them calmly, her cerulean blue eyes shinning with sympathy.
“Hello.” Janet said softly. Ryan, who was waking up from a small nap, and Colin, who was already awake, stared at the short blonde woman with some apprehension.
Julie ran up next to Janet and stood next to her. She stared at the older woman in confusion. Janet just smiled at her daughter.
“So you two are Ryan and Colin, right?” Janet asked. Both men nodded, still staring at Janet as if they were waiting for her to start screaming and splash holy water on them, calling them sinners and tell them they were going to hell.
Instead, Janet just walked up and placed her hands on both the men’s shoulders.
“I’m sorry for what Lolita’s putting you through, but don’t worry. I’ve been through what you’re going through and I’ll help you two and your friends the best I can.” Janet told them. Ryan blinked several times, before staring at Colin, his emerald green eyes wide in surprise.
Julie sighed in relief, glad that her mom wasn’t going to freak out.
Will on the other hand…
“WHAT THE FUCK!?!”
Julie shook her head, covering her face with her hands. Janet spun around to see what was wrong.
Will, his face a white as a ghost, pointed a shaky finger at Ryan and Colin. His eyes were wide with shock and his mouth was hanging open.
“Th-th-th-this can’t be real! This HAS to be a trick! Julie, you’re screwing with us, I know it!!!” Will exclaimed, clearly in denial. Robert walked past Will and over to Ryan and Colin, a slight frown on his face. Sam, who was talking with Greg, just shook her head, looking away.
“Looks real to me, Will.” Robert replied, getting a good look at Ryan and Colin.
“Kid, this isn’t a trick! This is the real deal!” Greg angrily told Will, crossing his arms. Will just shook his head, still trying hard to grasp what he was seeing. Wayne finally coaxed the young man to one of the chairs and helped him sit down. Melissa broke her hug with Brad once Wayne had sat Will down.
“What’s his problem?” Chip asked Robert, walking up to the older man. Robert just shrugged.
“He’s not a big fan of what Ryan and Colin are going through.” Julie explained. She smirked slightly, shaking her head with her eyes closed. “Trust me; if you’ve seen what some folks have done to characters from different genres,” Julie laughed slightly, placing her bags at the foot of Colin’s cot, “You’d be acting just like Will.” Julie walked over to her shaking brother. She then slapped him upside the head.
“Knock it off!” Julie snapped at him. Will glared at her, standing up and towering over her. Julie let out a weak sigh and shook her head. Melissa cleared her throat.
“Well, it seems that everyone’s meet face-to-face. It’s time for full introductions.” Melissa began, brushing back strand of messy hair behind her ear. Julie sighed, knowing that she was right.
“Alright, then.” She cleared her throat. “Gentlemen, this is my family,” Julie placed a hand on Janet’s shoulder. “This is Janet, my mom,” She pointed to Robert, who was standing with Chip. “That’s Robert, my dad, but you can call him Bob,” and she pointed her thumb back at Will. “And that’s Will, my older and only brother.” Julie introduced her family to the seven men.
“And THESE GUYS are the handsome men of Whose Line is it Anyway!” Melissa exclaimed, holding Brad’s hand up in the air. Sam shook her head, disturbed over her friend’s actions.
“This hot guy is Brad Sherwood, the silly singing monkey man.” Melissa hugged Brad in emphasis. He nodded, patting Melissa on her right shoulder.
“Dad, you’re next to Chip Esten, great sense of humor and a great singing voice.” Julie pointed to Chip. Robert shook the younger man’s hand.
“I’m Wayne Brady, nice to meet you.” Wayne extended his hand to shake Will’s, who accepted it without hesitation.
“I’ve heard of you.” Will nodded.
“This is Drew Carey, no relation to Jim or Mariah, and one of the ones here who’s sane.” Sam introduced Drew.
“Hey, I’m sane!” Melissa protested; now back to holding Brad’s hand.
“Right, and my mom’s Jessica Alba.” Julie said sarcastically, crossing her arms. Melissa glared at the brunette, who went back over to Ryan and Colin.
“That’s Greg Proops, the resident smart-ass.” Sam pointed to Greg, who just waved a hand.
“And would prove it if I didn’t have this stupid v-chip in my neck.” Greg stated bluntly, pointing to the back of his neck.
“Mom, you’ve already meet Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie, the ones I’ve told you about.” Julie reminded Janet, gesturing at both men she had just mentioned.
“Nice to meet all of you.” Janet smiled.
“Pleasure.” Ryan nodded.
“So what’d you bring?” Chip asked, peeking in one of the several plastic bags on the table. Wayne and Drew joined him, peeking into the bags.
“Extra blankets, some real food, several types of drinks - no beer, don’t want you guys having hangovers and causing suspicion - and stuff to keep you guys busy.” Will ran off from memory. Wayne then pulled out a box that had a picture of a poker chip set on it. Brad saw it and a huge grin came across his face.
“YOU BROUGHT US A POKER SET!?” Brad shouted, grabbing Melissa’s arms in excitement. Melissa nodded yes. Brad gave the young blonde a bone crushing hug.
“Lissy, I love you!” Brad cried out. Melissa gave a slightly painful smile and tried to return the hug, but couldn’t due to her arms being crushed by Brad’s.
Everyone just stared at the two in confusion, disgust, and blasé. Sam broke the slight silence.
“So.., who wants to play poker?” she asked, casually.
