Remember Me!?!
Chapter 30: PART ONE Vacation
Pairings: MinKey/JongKey (!side: YunJae)
Genre: Angst, Romance, Triangle, Drama
Rated: PG13
Summary: The pain of being torn apart by the heart longing for two separate lovers can tear away at one’s soul and exhaust them until they are unable to feel anymore. Like overworking in an office or physically overworking oneself, the stress of love can eventually exhaust the heart. But unlike work, when it comes to love, it is impossible to take a vacation. Impossible to escape from the past, but the future will never stop coming. And now hiding is not an option anymore. Whether he is ready or not-Kibum has to choose.
Minho woke slowly from his light sleep upon hearing a quiet and muffled noise coming from the other side of the dorm, and the fact that his arms and the bed next to him were both empty. Minho reopened his eyes slowly and glanced at the empty spot next to him, where Kibum had once been laying, and felt it, finding it no longer warm. He could still hear the faint noise of movement coming from the kitchen though, and knew that Kibum was still there, and hadn’t gone anywhere. He sighed heavily however as he glanced over his shoulder and noticed it was already five in the morning. Kibum hadn’t slept at all that entire night.
Kibum stayed still, as he had been for the last few hours since he had gotten up from bed, and stared down contemplatively at the small mug of coffee in front of him (the dorm’s cupboard had already had a small package of instant coffee when they had moved in, and since Minho refused to drink coffee, it had been left untouched until this morning).
“S-since…since when?” Kibum thought, again and again, as he had all morning and night. “…Since when has anyone but you come into my heart, Jonghyun? Since when did anyone but you have such a big impact on me?” He sighed heavily as he dropped his head to hang above his coffee cup. The steam was warm and comforting against his cold face, and the familiar smell smelt just like Jonghyun.
“I…” Kibum started, as he kept his head down. “I don’t want to leave you, Jonggie. I don’t want to leave you behind in my past and forget all about you. I don’t want to live on without you and forget everything we’ve done together. I don’t want to replace you in my heart. You mean so much to me. I love you so much…I don’t want for those feelings to go away. I don’t want to leave you and love another…” He quickly rubbed the single tear that found its way to his cheek, before glancing up slowly at Minho’s sleeping figure, unable to notice that their eyes connected in the darkness.
Kibum swallowed the lump that rose in his throat as he stared closely at Minho’s silhouette. The fortune teller’s words were still so clear in his mind as he remained sitting there, that he could almost hear her voice saying them again. They had been so acutely accurate with his life, that he had not been able to take his mind off of them. The story about the fool coming across two different trees, and diverging from his original plan and what he had thought he had always wanted-and moving on to find a love and a path that he was made to take, even if he didn’t want to part with his old choice. How could he interpret this as anything other than how he felt about Minho? When he had gone to the fortune teller’s place, his now unnoticed feelings for Minho he had always felt-they became so clear to him that now he was left scared of them. For how long? For how long had he felt such things for Minho? Why didn’t he ever see it before? His love for Jonghyun-he thought before that nothing could ever surpass it. He thought before that there was only one person he could ever love his whole entire life…and now Minho is suddenly the one who breaks that belief. Now Minho is suddenly in his heart and mind, and Kibum knows that he couldn’t live without him, he knows that he wants him this close, if not closer, for the rest of his life. He knows that he could continue living and fighting for Jonghyun without him being at his side every night-but even if he had Jonghyun, he truly doubted he would be able to live if Minho left him. But…he just didn’t know anymore. It was as if he had lost everything he thought he knew about himself, and now was left doubting his own heart, left behind without understanding what he truly loved and wanted.
“How…how could I even think about letting you go….Minho-yah?” Kibum thought slowly, as he continued to stare at Minho closely. “You mean so much to me. I…couldn’t live without you with me-you’ve already taken such a big place in my heart, even if I haven’t realized it before. Can…will you really take Jonghyun’s?” He closed his eyes as tightly as he could as the thought stabbed his heart harshly, and buried his face in his hands. “Oh Minho-yah…how can you make me choose like this? I love you so much, and you mean the world to me-but…J-Jjong…Jonghyun, he means so much to me too. He’s…all I’ve ever wanted before now. How could I betray him and try to forget about him after so many years? E-even if I do love you…how can I forget everything he’s meant to me for the first sixteen years of my life? I-it…I…can’t even be sure that you’d take me, if I were to turn to you. I know you promised me that you would stay with me forever…but, if I fall for you…and then am rejected…how would I be able to live? What would I be able to do if I was rejected and left by you of all people? Until now, I have never let myself think of you as anything more than a friend…what if that is all you think of me? You mean too much to me to be able to do anything or act on these…feelings, loves, whatever it is that makes me need you so much…in fear that it would cause me to lose you. Minho-yah, if what the fortune teller said, and you are actually….if, it’s my destiny to love you….I’m sorry. I…just don’t have the guts to….I…think I still love Jonghyun too…h-how can I not? I spent my entire life loving him. I…I…just don’t know how to face these feelings…” He thought, forcing himself to swallow the lump in his throat. The only thing he could really think to do at that time was act as if he had never gone to the fortune teller’s in the first place, and simply go on doing whatever his heart made him want to do.
Kibum sighed again heavily before standing up, leaving the coffee cup untouched and walked slowly towards the bathroom to take another shower. He seemed to be most comfortable in the shower, because he somehow found time to be alone and not think of all the issues which had been bothering. That’s what he needed more than anything, just a break from it all. His head ached far worse than it had ever had before.
Minho kept his eyes on the bathroom door as it closed softly behind Kibum, and a few moments later he could hear the water of the shower running and hitting the floor. Minho hated this. He knew that going to the fortune teller would be a bad idea if Kibum didn’t hear what he wanted to hear. If only he knew what the fortune teller had said to him. He hated not being able to make Kibum feel better when he was obviously stressed. He wished he could just let Kibum have a vacation from all of the stress Jonghyun was always putting him under. Just a short vacation where he could just be comfortable and not worry about anything. Suddenly, something struck his mind.
Minho half smiled a little nervously to himself as he slowly got out of his and Kibum’s bed and crept over in the darkness to pull his laptop out of his sports bag.
~~~~~~~~~~~~`
A few hours later:
Minho laughed quietly as he glanced to his side and Kibum’s skeptical half-smile on Kibum’s beautiful and sharp face, as the shorter boy began looking around the train station with confused eyes, cocking an eyebrow as he noticed two shopping bags in Minho’s hands, before crossing his arms and looking at Minho with a content expression on his face.
“Minho-yah, I’m not five. I can tell you’re not planning on just taking the metro to the other side of town like you said we were going. So, hurry up, just spill it. Where are you taking me?” The diva asked, as he strutted over to Minho and looked at him expectantly.
Minho half smiled lightly before shaking his head slowly, and only held out the larger shopping bag, allowing for Kibum to pout his lips a little with confusion, but taking the bag from his hand. “I’m not telling yet. But, this might be a hint.” He answered quietly, secretly biting his lip as he wondered if what he was doing was actually something Kibum would enjoy doing with him.
Kibum glared at Minho for a moment upon not getting an answer, but stubbornly held his breath as he glanced into the white shopping bag, only to find a small pink beach towel, a new water bottle filled up, some sunscreen, a change of clothes, the board-shorts he had pointed at in the mall the other day, and a warm looking but slightly large sweater in the bottom of it. “H-huh…? Beach stuff…?” Kibum muttered quietly, now losing his stubborn diva act to pure confusion as there was suddenly the loud noise of the train approaching, and Minho held out a small white train ticket for him to take.
Kibum didn’t say anything as he slowly took the ticket, and noticed how Minho nodded towards the train and signed for him to follow him. “Y-yah! Where are we-” Kibum started as he followed the taller and quiet boy towards the train, when he suddenly remembered that it should probably say the destination on the ticket and glanced down at it slowly. “BUSAN!?” He shouted quickly, as his eyes finally found the destination on the small ticket in his hand. “WE’RE GOING TO BUSAN?” He shouted again, as he chased Minho onto the train and just barely stopped to hand the man his ticket as he boarded.
Minho glanced at Kibum a little nervously, but half smiled. “Is that okay? I know that it’s still technically winter, but it’s almost march and I checked the temperatures when you were in the shower this morning. It’s supposed to be really warm there already, despite the season. I was even able to set up renting water-ski supplies in advance.” He said slowly, as he took a seat, leaving Kibum the seat next to the window, though slightly nervous that Kibum would be upset about his impulsiveness. “Do you want to go? I considered asking you before…a-ah, I probably should have…” He started uneasily.
Kibum smiled widely before quickly plopping down on the seat next to Minho happily and quickly grabbing his hand. “N-no! I want to go! I really want to go. It’s just….” He stopped for a moment before looking back into Minho’s eyes, trying to find some sort of indication to what he was thinking. “…why? Why did you suddenly plan this?” He asked slowly, becoming more curious as Minho’s eyes glanced down from his quickly and a slight blush covered his face.
“Because…..” Minho started nervously. “Because last night, after we got home, and you stayed awake all night i-in m-my arms…I could feel the stress and fatigue in your body. When I saw your face this morning, I could see how much you needed some relief. Key…you’re overworking yourself, regardless of whether it is physically or emotionally. If you keep on like this without a break, I’m worried you’re going to get sick.” He explained the best he could, not being able to help blushing slightly and feeling nervous as he mentioned Kibum being in his arms and allowing for him to feel such stress in his body.
Kibum looked up at Minho with large, shining eyes as he felt a slight flush cover his own face as well, and for some reason, his heart began beating quickly. Minho had noticed his desperateness for a break too? Since when did they start sharing such telepathy? Despite the fact he should be wondering why his heart seemed to swell at the kindness of Minho’s act; he couldn’t stop himself from quickly leaning forwards and hugging Minho close to him.
“Minho-yaaaaahh~ you’re really the best friend I could ever ask for! Thanks soo much!! I love you~~” Kibum cheered happily, as he buried his face in Minho’s chest as he hugged him tightly, noticing the warmth of Minho’s arms as they shakily placed themselves around his back.
“I love you too, Key. So much. I wish you knew.” Minho thought slowly, as he glanced down at the happy boy in his arms, and gently pushed his brown bangs from his face.
Jonghyun sighed agitatedly and heavily as he stomped back into his dorm at the end of the day, dropping his stuff on the floor carelessly. Alone. Again. As he had been all day. Outside, the sun was half way set in the sky, and yet it seemed too dark for Jonghyun’s liking. Plus, what was with Onew lately? He hadn’t seen him at all since he had come home from visiting his mother two full days ago already, and he only seemed to come back into the dorm once Jonghyun was either asleep or at school. What kind of best friend was he? WAIT. Best friend?
“Woah, woah, woah, slow down, Jonghyun!” Jonghyun thought quickly as he peeled himself off of the couch and quickly massaged his temples roughly. “Okay, look, just because, yes, you haven’t seen Kibum or even that freaky alien at all today, and it’s as if they just dropped off the face of the earth together, and yes, you’re worried as hell, and yes, you haven’t been able to focus on ANYTHING at all today, and yes, where the hell is he, and yes, you’re a lonely mess….DOESN’T mean you have lost your mind and started calling Onew your best friend…..” He tried to reason with himself, but, as with every subject he had thought about that day, his mind was forced back to Kibum and where the heck he could have gone, and why on earth he hadn’t seen him all day for the first time since he had come back into his life. “WHAT THE HELL DID THAT STUPID ALIEN DO WITH MY KIBUM!?!” He shouted angrily, trying to ignore the pain his chest was suddenly feeling as he already began to desperately miss the younger boy.
“You haven’t finally left me for good this time….have you?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Minho chuckled fondly as he glanced over at Kibum who was happily smiling down at his cold soba noodles, face pure and happy like he hadn’t seen him look since they had come back to Daegu in the first place. He was currently sitting in a small Japanese Cuisine styled restaurant on an outdoor deck built over and overlooking the ocean, on the night that marked one of the happiest days of his life. That day had indeed been simple, but one the happiest Minho had ever experienced.
Due to not traveling much as a child, Minho had never been to Daegu before, and not only had the weather been perfect and the scenery beautiful, but Kibum immediately made it his job to be Minho’s personal tour guide. This led to being held by the hand all day, pulled through all the markets, shopping, tourist stops, and ice cream shops along the way. Minho couldn’t help himself from smiling contently as he thought about Kibum’s happy face as he gobbled down the sugary home-made ice cream, succeeding in getting it all over his face, and relying on Minho to slowly (after a long time of blushing) wipe it off for him. The best part of the day, though, was in the afternoon when the sun was hottest, and they finally made their way down to the beach, where Kibum immediately began telling him everything and anything there was to know about waterskiing as they boarded the boat and waited to get deep enough into the water.
Minho couldn’t hide his happiness as he glanced down into the blue water below him and continued to listen to everything Kibum was blabbering about waterskiing. How had he gotten to be so lucky to spend such a day like this with the world’s most amazing boy alive? Minho chuckled quietly to himself as he glanced up to look at Kibum’s beautiful face, but stopped as he noticed that Kibum had stopped talking and now was only looking at him with a different kind of smile on his face.
Minho’s face flushed slightly under Kibum’s eyes, but swallowed slowly and looked back at him. “Wh-what is it, Key? Are you too hot?” He asked nervously, after a moment, as Kibum only continued to stare at him with a smile that Minho couldn’t guess the meaning of off the top of his head.
Kibum half laughed quietly before shaking his head and leaning against the seat on the boat and looking at the blue water below them for a moment, before glancing back up at Minho. “That’s not it. It’s just…you remembered that I love waterskiing, even though I haven’t done it for years. I didn’t think that you would have remembered…” He muttered quietly, but the soft smile still remained on his face.
Minho laughed nervously as he glanced back down at the water, despite the fact that Kibum’s eyes were still glued on him. “H-heh…of course, Key. You were really passionate about it in high school, although you stopped doing it when you were a junior. I can’t help but remember you talking about how good it feels and how free you feel when you’re on the water.” He answered quietly.
Kibum glanced down slowly, keeping the same soft smile, but slowly reached out and hooked his first three fingers with Minho’s longer fingers. “I’m really lucky to have someone like you in my life. I’m so glad I have you…” He muttered quietly, almost more to himself, but not afraid of Minho hearing it, despite how it made the younger boy’s face turn red the moment he heard it.
Minho glanced up from reflecting on the day, and remembering the way that Kibum indeed looked so free as he was waterskiing, upon noticing Kibum setting down his spoon and yawning heavily, stretching his tried arms above and behind his head, once his meal was finished.
“Are you sleepy now, Key? Do you want to go back to the hotel now?” Minho asked after a moment, after waiting for Kibum to finish stretching and yawning.
Kibum glanced at Minho before yawning again with his contentment as he nodded slowly, arms and legs tired from skiing, stomach full from eating one of his favorite kinds of foods, and body comfortable from the surprisingly warm air around him. “Mnhmn…” He muttered sleepily, slowly getting up from his stool where he had been sitting, and pulled a few dollars from his wallet to pay for his portion of the meal.
Minho smiled, but reached out and touched Kibum’s hand as he was about to set the money in front of him, stopping him from letting it go. “I’ve got it. You spent a lot of your money buying things yesterday. I don’t mind paying for a good meal like this.” He said, as he handed the money back to a stubbornly pouting Kibum.
“A-ah, it’s okay, Minho-yah. I don’t mind paying for it. This was a wonderful meal. It’s definitely worth fifteen dollars.” Kibum started, but was rejected again by Minho, this time sternly, so stubbornly enforced that he was going to be the one paying the tip (a rather generous tip at the end of the argument, but he was too happy and content with life at the moment to really notice).
~~~
Minho let out a comfortable and content sigh as they walked through the darkness under the full moon, hand still fitted with Kibum’s slightly smaller hand, staring up at the sky and stars, secretly thanking each and every one of them, as they made their way back towards their room in the hotel. He had never felt this way before. So peaceful and lucky, so much in love with the other beautiful boy standing next to him, as he made his way towards the hotel pool on their way towards their room. Even if it was not truly as it was, even if Kibum’s heart was not truly his, he couldn’t help himself from smiling lightly, feeling as if he was the luckiest man in the whole entire world, and that he was there together with his lover, and all he could do was continue to stare at the sky, closing his eyes for a moment and allowing the warm breeze to softly push through his hair, heart beating happily next to Kibum’s, fingers lacing perfect with Kibum’s.
Suddenly, however, Minho’s completely happy and satisfied moment of walking with his eyes closed, without a care in the world-was ended harshly when he suddenly felt a sharp yank backwards and towards the side on his arm, and the next thing he knew, he was falling forwards, losing his footing and falling face first into the heated water of the hotel’s pool.
Minho held his breath as he fell into the refreshing and comfortable feeling of the heated pool, before swimming back up to the surface as quickly as he could, shaking his head to get the water off of it, and opening his eyes, staring back at the walk way next to the pool’s side, where he could see Kibum’s barely light silhouette in the darkness, laughing contently at his trick. “Yah, you almost gave me a heart attack, Key!” Minho snapped playfully, as the shorter boy only continued laughing as he watched Minho tread in the deep water of the in-ground pool.
“Ai-aigo, I’m sorry, Minho-yah. You just looked far too peaceful as you were not to do that. How’s the water? It isn’t too cold, right?” Kibum asked finally, as he stopped himself from laughing at his trick anymore, and now focusing on making sure it hadn’t gone too far.
Minho dunked his head under the water one more time as he smiled and shook his head. “It feels nice. It’s warm. You should come in too.” He said happily, ignoring his normal reserve and just more into playing with Kibum, since the older boy had already started it.
The diva laughed at this before shaking his head. “In this shirt? Are you kidding me? The chlorine would totally bleach it. I would, if I were still in my swim stuff.” He said bluntly, showing one of his favorite shirts to Minho, but secretly biting his lip. He did want to join. The water, although dark and completely black aside from the reflection of the full moon on the surface, looked beautiful.
Minho frowned a little but covered it under the water, as he said nothing, but didn’t take his eyes off of Kibum. Perhaps he was getting ahead of himself. Kibum would probably get too tired if he were to go back to the room to change into his swim stuff, and then come back down. “Ah…alright. I understand. Should I get out and go back up to the room with you?” He asked, trying not to let his disappointment be apparent.
Kibum pouted a little as he glanced around for a ladder out of the pool for a moment, before finally spotting it on the complete other side of the pool. “Ugh…yeah, I guess so. It’s dark, don’t slip and use the ladder. It’s over there.” He said, pointing towards the other side of the pool.
Minho nodded slowly. “Alright. I’ll be back up soon.” He answered a little disappointedly, before turning his back towards Kibum again, before swimming a little bit towards the ladder, only to pause as the movement of Kibum’s shirt falling onto the sidewalk next to the pool’s edge, and then a sudden splash sounding behind him.
“K-Key…?” Minho asked a little surprised, turning around to try to find the other boy, not expecting for him to suddenly lose his shirt and jump in after him. He wouldn’t have suspected Kibum to be the kind who would like swimming in skinny jeans. However, he paused when he couldn’t find any trace of the smaller boy in the darkness, before there was a sudden yank on his legs, and he was pulled under the water again.
Minho held his laugh along with his breath as he opened his eyes under the water, only being able to see a shadow of Kibum under the water, but swam over to him and shook him around gently and playfully under the water, until they were both lightly wrestling with each other under the surface, until they both needed air again.
Kibum laughed quietly as he swam back up to the surface again, sticking his head out to the cool air above him, moonlight shining down on him and Minho, but not letting go of Minho as he lazily used him to keep him floating. “Got’cha…” He whispered happily, as he caught his breath again.
Minho chuckled quietly as well as he allowed for Kibum to use him to keep him floating, now treading water again to stay above the surface. “Heh, I wasn’t expecting that. You’re unpredictable today.” He muttered, nervously nudging Kibum to move a little closer to him so he didn’t have to try as hard to keep afloat.
Kibum chuckled again before nodding at the unspoken suggestion from Minho and moved closer to him. “Hnn. I’ll take that as a compliment.” He muttered quietly, before noticing how Minho worked hard to stay above the water. “Are you doing okay? Want me to let go of you?” He asked, glancing back towards the water, trying to see how hard Minho was left kicking.
Minho shook his head immediately, a little too quickly than he had meant to show, as Kibum offered to let go of him. This was one of the most wonderful positions he had ever been in before-there was no way he would let go of him now. Even if it made swimming a bit hard. “Mhmnn, don’t. It’s okay. It’s just a bit hard to swim in clothes.” He answered, but still kept holding onto Kibum’s arms to keep them both afloat, trying not to touch too much of Kibum’s bare chest in the process.
Kibum laughed at this before looking back at him with a mischievous look in his eyes. “Then take off your shirt. You’ll be a great deal lighter. Besides, then I won’t be alone and it won’t be so awkward.” He said nonchalantly, tugging on the sleeve of Minho’s t-shirt as he spoke.
Minho blushed quickly as he heard that suggestion before looking away from Kibum quickly. “N-n-no, it’s okay. I don’t mind. It’s not too hard…” He started, but Kibum seemed to have had his mind made up, and Minho knew there was no reasoning with him when he has already made up his mind.
“Nou, take it off. That way I’m not the only shirtless one, and we’re both shirtless instead. Unless you really want me to feel like the immodest one…” He muttered stubbornly, holding his breath in his cheeks much like a child.
Minho laughed quietly at Kibum’s puffed out cheeks and couldn’t help himself from poking his left one, causing for the air to blow out of Kibum’s lips, breezing against Minho’s face as he did so. “Alright, alright…stop pouting like that…” He muttered quietly, getting a smile from Kibum in response.
“Alright! Ah-don’t let go of me though. I’ll help you get it off…” Kibum started quickly, and the next thing Minho knew, Kibum wrapped his legs around his waist and grabbed the hem at the bottom of Minho’s shirt and began pulling it up. Minho would have passed out due to embarrassment, if he had not been the only thing keeping Kibum at the surface.
“A-ah, K-Key, I-I can do it-K-Key…” Minho stuttered quickly, face obviously flushed, even in the darkness of the night and moonlight, but Kibum didn’t pause his actions, stating that it was almost off and that he had it.
Minho glanced down quickly as he had to let go of Kibum and lifted his arms in order to get his wet shirt off of his face, causing for Kibum to move closer to him, and their bare chests pressed together, as the shirt finally slipped off, and Minho had to wrap his arm around Kibum’s waist in order to keep him from slipping.
Kibum paused for a moment as he finally managed to get Minho’s shirt off of him and was now left being held securely and closely against the taller boy’s chest, his half bare body pressed against his half bare body. He swallowed quickly as he continued holding onto Minho’s shirt for a moment, and their eyes met with each others for a short moment, as he continued to have his legs wrapped around Minho’s waist, and both of Minho’s arms wrapped around his own. He couldn’t help it, and felt blush spreading over his cheeks and his heart suddenly started beating quickly as he noticed how close his face was to Minho’s at that moment, and how amazing this moment felt. How Jonghyun couldn’t possibly be further from his mind.
“H-heh…” Kibum breathed out a moment later, as he slowly glanced down from his eyes being stuck by Minho’s, slowly tossing Minho’s t-shirt to the side of the pool next to his own. “Th-that’s…better. It should be easier to swim now, right?” He asked after a moment, smiling lightly, but blush still playing over his cheeks.
Minho swallowed heavily and was only left nodding slowly as he was stuck staring at Kibum’s beautiful face in front of him. There had been so many times in his life already where he wanted nothing more than to slowly move forwards and kiss Kibum’s beautiful lips-but this moment was the most tempting. This moment was the hardest to resist. This moment, his entire being just begged for him to do it.
Kibum slipped a little lower on Minho’s body, just enough to lean his head back in the water and closed his eyes as he felt the comfort of the water around him, and the warmth and security of Minho’s body plain against his, without shirts getting in the way. He had never felt this way before, with anyone-anyone besides Jonghyun. Kibum sighed heavily as he realized what he was doing, and how he was betraying everything he ever thought his heart had ever wanted. Betraying Jonghyun, and yet he couldn’t force himself out of Minho’s arms. He felt as though he should be ashamed and guilty as he betrayed the only one had had loved for sixteen years of his life, and yet he couldn’t find himself to regret being here, like this, in his arms. At any other moment he might have had time to slow himself down and ask what the hell was going on with him-and yet he almost seemed repellant to the negative feelings he would have thought about before. Just as quickly as his thoughts of Jonghyun had come, they were gone, and he found himself leaning his head back up, arms wrapping around Minho’s neck, forehead bumping against the taller boy’s, and his eyes closing comfortably, not thinking of anything besides how he felt in his arms, not feeling anything but the gentleness of Minho’s warm breath against his face.
“Minho-yah…” Kibum whispered quietly after a long moment, his breath stolen from his body, his heart pounding against his chest so hard he thought Minho had to have been able to feel it against his own as well. “…if I said that I wish this moment would last forever…would you laugh at me?” He asked quietly.
Minho couldn’t breathe as he continued to stare at Kibum’s beautiful face, just barely inches away from his own, lips all but touching against Kibum’s red ones, his forehead pressed against Kibum’s, noses bumping gently. He tried to open his mouth for a reply, but only breathless pants escaped from him. “I-if…i-if I said that I’ve waited forever for this moment to come…would you laugh at me?” He found himself whispering quietly, barely understanding how he had managed to muster up the courage to speak such things aloud.
Kibum sighed heavily after a long moment, but didn’t open his eyes, as he slowly moved until his head was rested gently one Minho’s shoulder, cheek slightly in the water, but nose and mouth gently pressed against Minho’s neck as he hugged him closer to him. “Hmn…this has to be a dream.” Was all he whispered, before becoming quiet again, as Minho was left without an answer.
Minho sighed as well and closed his eyes himself as he put his nose against Kibum’s shoulder as well, moving slowly towards the more shallow water so he could hold Kibum more securely without working so hard to stay afloat, even though he felt as if he could float up to the highest level of heaven right then. “You’re right. This is a dream. And, yet, I wish I never had to wake up from it…” He whispered quietly, as he held Kibum closer and closer yet, wishing with all he was that he would never wake up again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
The feeling of warm sunshine and the singing of sweet birds woke Kibum the next morning, as he found himself laying on the soft white sheets of a king-sized bed in a nice hotel, jeans and lower body wrapped with slightly damp towels, but surprisingly comfortable as he stayed where he had been laid. Kibum swallowed the large lump in his throat as he simply rolled onto his back and stared up at the ceiling. Had last night-the feelings he felt for only Minho-the words he had said and had heard said back-were they real? Or were they really just a dream? Whether the feeling he had then was real or not-the feeling of only seeing Minho, only feeling Minho, of not thinking or hurting because of Jonghyun-they were gone now. They were gone and all he could do was hide his face in his hands and pull at his hair as he felt guilt beginning to bite at his tearing apart heart, and bitter tears come to his eyes and stain his pale cheeks.
“J-Jjong….I’m sorry. I’m so sorry….”
~~~~~~~~~~~~`
As Kibum sat on the train next to Minho again on their way back to Daegu from Busan, he decided he couldn’t stand the silence and the unsurity of whether he had felt last night was a dream or not, and swallowed heavily before looking up at Minho with large eyes.
“M-Minho-yah….” Kibum started quietly, causing for Minho to glance up from the sports magazine he had been browsing over, and their eyes connected. “Wh-what…what did we do before we went to sleep last night? What did we do before bed?” He asked, quietly.
Minho glanced down at the train floor for a long minute as he thought the answer over and over again in his head. He could see the different expression in Kibum’s eyes all day since he had woken up, and he could already begin to understand how Kibum must have felt awkward and uncomfortable with the words and touches they had exchanged before in the pool, so he lied. Lied for Kibum so he wouldn’t be hurt. Although the reason he hated Jonghyun the most was for lying to Kibum so much, he did what he hated the most, because he knew it would give Kibum peace of mind.
“You don’t remember, Key? We went swimming for a short while before you said your legs were tried from skiing and went upstairs to bed.” He answered after a long minute, sorry to lie, but not wanting Kibum to remember falling asleep in his arms as they stayed together in the pool, holding each other so close, breathing each other’s breath, absorbing each other’s scent.
“Really….?” Kibum muttered quietly, less than a question as he just continued to stare down at his own hands folded in his lap. Then everything was just a dream after all.
Jonghyun held his breath and tried not to let tears stain his cheeks, as he opened his dorm’s door the next morning on his way to school, just in time to catch only a glimpse of only Kibum’s back as he walked away with Minho, down the hallway, away from their dorms. It had been the first time in two full days that he had heard of or seen the younger boy at all and Jonghyun tried not to notice how every day when he woke up, he would sit in his kitchen until the last moment, hoping that Kibum was only just running late, how during the nights he didn’t stare up at the ceiling sadly and beg God to allow him to see Kibum one more time. He didn’t know whether Kibum had been there the entire time, or if he had gone somewhere, but it was obvious that he did not want anything to do with him. He really tried not to think too much of it, but couldn’t help but wonder-did he do something wrong? He sighed heavily before slipping out of his dorm and made his way towards school alone.
HERE'S part TWO Dearies. Sorry about the awkward part cuts, the last paragraph should really be part of PART TWO, but it wouldn't fit, so there it be. THANKS SO MUCH READING.
Oh, yeah, Minho supports, still don't think Minho stands a chance? hahaha...
