I also finally listened to Danger Days properly, and my unspoilery reaction is that I don't immediately love it the way I did Pretty Odd or Folie a Deux or Accelerate, but I like it more than I initially did No Line On the Horizon.
I spent the entire first listening going, "Wait, wait, I KNOW that song!" so...I'm enthusiastic, but I suspect that's largely to do with nostalgia, and I'm not sure how well it'll stand up to repetition? But we'll see.
Kat and I both agree one of the songs (Summertime? I think? I forget right now) reminds us HARDCORE of U2 - thoughts? But we'll see how it goes, yeah, I am pretty positive that it's going to grow on me more anyhow.
I think it's actually Savage Garden, but yeah, the sound is similar from the same period. I'm sort of...distracted by the way that it's exactly as if someone put my high school and college music collection in a blender and poured the results over the cartoon network?

Sometimes I have to hear things live to really inhabit them, y'know?
I didn't really like Danger Days much either, but then again I keep forgetting that there's only two or three MCR songs I like in general. They're too... shouty? for my usual tastes.
I can absolutely see where you're coming from on that. There's some of their earlier stuff that I would've LOVED ten years ago but right now I have to SO be in the exact right mood for it.
...V just asked us if jocondite's squick was to do with waterskiiing in general or what. blademistress and I promptly, well. Pissed ourselves, metaphorically speaking? :D OMFG ROFL SIRIUSLY? <3 why was I not there!??
I have only listened to Danger Days the once so far but generally I thought it was loads of fun. I haven't analyzed it yet or read my free-because-I-bought-concert-tickets lyrics pdf but it was nice and distracting on the bus.
That is fair and valid! I realise it sounds like I don't like the album which is completely not the case; I like it a lot, it just hasn't set my soul on fire yet. :D
How did she hang out with us for so long and never figure this out?! Also, how does she not understand the term! The last time I didn't get it was first year uni!
Yeah, right now I mostly like it because it reminds me of MJ ... and it's really catchy. Partly I just want to like it after spending money on their tickets and then realizing that the only song of theirs that I've ever loved enough to download on my own was Welcome to the Black Parade.
