Due to a request and a great deal of personal interest, I dug back at the http://www.shigeaki-kato.com forums and found the post!

God. This is SO CUTE. Shige totally has an admiration-worship of Ryo-- you see hints of it whenever the boys are required to talk about each other, but it's especially strong here, even though he knows that Ryo might read this. OMG.

I found your translation notes very interesting! #8 I assume is kind of like "looking out for me", kind of thing.

I love that Shige is smart and knows he's smart so when he argues he always thinks he's right and Ryo is the only one who will put him in his place-- the others are too nice. Gah.

Although, apparently, Ryo once wandered in to watch Shige take a shower, so

Puppy!Shige is ADORABLE. And sometimes, they are so alike, it's kind of scary. x.x Other times, I think he's more like an Ueda-type. Shige as Ryoda's love child?! XD XD XD [is bricked]

Mmm, kind of? Part of it is looking out for someone, but there's also an element of guidance. So I guess it's like being taken under someone's wing.

YES. I TOTALLY AM. I can't remember for the life of me where I read it, but I'm pretty sure it was an actual translation and not, you know, random fanfic that became fan-canon. o.O ISN'T IT AWESOME AND JUST NISHIKATO WTF.

I think Shige looking up to Ryo so much inevitably means that he's going to start emulating Ryo...and since he's so smart I'm sure his insults will get better and better. But I do agree with you, I feel like if current!News was lined up against KAT-TUN, then it would be Kame/Yamapi (leader), Jin/Tegoshi (best singer), Massu/Junno (best dancer), Koyama/Nakamaru (speaker), Koki/Ryo (strongest personality), and Ueda/Shige (awkward with the camera) :)

And god, I can't believe Ryo did that. Haha, Nishikato indeed.

The Koki/Ryo makes me crack up, just because... Koki vs. Ryo. I mean. Oh, man. XD XD XD That would be kind of win.

But yes! I definitely agree!

And beyond that, despite their aversion to the camera, Ueda and Shige both have beautiful, gorgeous smiles that make you pause and stare and flail a lot. @.@

Massu/Junno works, too, because they're both so randomly awkward and do a lot of FTW things. And they smile all the time. They had a smile off on BC once, and it was... I mean... x.x

Man. Somehow, six-nin!NewS seems to be turning into the cute alteregos of KAT-TUN. Or something.

Ryo is so creepy sometimes, but then he does the cute smile, and we forgive him pretty much anything. XD So dangerous!

this is supposed to be a secret... lol... but Shige is my 3rd fav. in NEWS after RyoPi... lol... because he's apparently a brainy guy, and (more importantly lololol), he fanboys Ryo-chan a lot!...

Thanks so much for the translation!

On one hand, it's interesting that Shige's response to Ryo's brutal (and somewhat unnecessary) honesty about Shige is to praise Ryo. On the other hand, and here I agree with you, he acts arrogant at times, and I think both of these situations point to his lack of self-confidence. Which leads to the bullying--though at this point it seems like light-hearted bullying, I think. ^__^ It's so funny that everyone in NEWS, even Tegoshi who's younger than he is, has taken part in bullying Shige. Believe! XDDD

But then, Ryo says a lot of good things, too, and his praise would mean more because he's the type who wouldn't coddle you if he thought you were being stupid. Unless you're Tegoshi.

I think Shige says some unnecessary things sometimes just to kind of randomly assert himself, which is really funny because it's him, but on the other hand, also leads to a lot of awkward moments. x.x

Shige. Social skills, man. You're an idol!

I'm glad you like them! So many things get lost in translations, so I really appreciate it myself when other translators give thorough notes and things. And, I mean, if you don't want to know, you can ignore it, but if you have an interest, then they're there.
