God. This is SO CUTE. Shige totally has an admiration-worship of Ryo-- you see hints of it whenever the boys are required to talk about each other, but it's especially strong here, even though he knows that Ryo might read this. OMG.

I found your translation notes very interesting! #8 I assume is kind of like "looking out for me", kind of thing.

I love that Shige is smart and knows he's smart so when he argues he always thinks he's right and Ryo is the only one who will put him in his place-- the others are too nice. Gah.

Although, apparently, Ryo once wandered in to watch Shige take a shower, so

I think Shige looking up to Ryo so much inevitably means that he's going to start emulating Ryo...and since he's so smart I'm sure his insults will get better and better. But I do agree with you, I feel like if current!News was lined up against KAT-TUN, then it would be Kame/Yamapi (leader), Jin/Tegoshi (best singer), Massu/Junno (best dancer), Koyama/Nakamaru (speaker), Koki/Ryo (strongest personality), and Ueda/Shige (awkward with the camera) :)

And god, I can't believe Ryo did that. Haha, Nishikato indeed.

The Koki/Ryo makes me crack up, just because... Koki vs. Ryo. I mean. Oh, man. XD XD XD That would be kind of win.

But yes! I definitely agree!

And beyond that, despite their aversion to the camera, Ueda and Shige both have beautiful, gorgeous smiles that make you pause and stare and flail a lot. @.@

Massu/Junno works, too, because they're both so randomly awkward and do a lot of FTW things. And they smile all the time. They had a smile off on BC once, and it was... I mean... x.x

Man. Somehow, six-nin!NewS seems to be turning into the cute alteregos of KAT-TUN. Or something.

Ryo is so creepy sometimes, but then he does the cute smile, and we forgive him pretty much anything. XD So dangerous!

And you're right about Ueda & Shige. I'm not the biggest Ueda fan, but I like it on CT-KT when he gets excited about boxing and starts smiling. And I <3 Shige's smile.

And Koki vs Ryo. Man oh man. That would be awesome to see! I once wrote a fic where they fight but they're both manly about it, so instead of apologizing, Ryo just gives Koki a bottle of water when he's sweating and then they play video games together. Because they're both just stupid boys. LOL.

Ryo amuses me because when he's shy or embarrassed you can totally read it on his face and it makes me laugh.

AHAHAHA! Koki/Ryo would be like that moment in the stage version of Hairspray... Link meets Seaweed for the first time, and they both strike ridiculously manly poses and go, "How you doin'?" "I'm fine, how're you?" While giving each other apprehensive looks.

Haha. Shige still gets embarrassed super easily, but maybe with all of the bullying he's starting to build tolerance to it? But he really is hilarious when he's embarrassed, no wonder the other members like picking on him so much. I do like how he doesn't take things lying down, though, like when he insulted Koyama for being stupid on the abake or when he told the girl in the live dvd to make ryo do a gag. Oh, Shige. <3

Have you seen the new pv? I love how 3 of the members pay attention to Shige's poster-- Koyama looks at it, Tegoshi touches it, and Ryo swipes at it.

He's still embarrassed, but he actually snipes back now. Which is awesome, because his snark is on par with Ryo's, just in a more "Why me?! T.T" kind of way. Like his comments on current Tegoshi and how Tego doesn't even add an honorific to his name... And now Tego calls him Shige-san.

I love that Shige has basically carved a name out for himself in fandom by being so fantastically good-natured but snarky about being pathetic and beaten-on. And he's a total intellectual dork on top of that. Clearly, he knows the way to a fangirl's heart: through the 'net and really good blogs.

And since you're chinese you probably already noticed this-- I love how Shige-aki in chinese is "chen liang", and since Ryo's Chinese name is also "liang", doesn't that mean shige-aki in chinese means "to become Ryo"?

Agreed. I think if Shige was actually a really talented singer (ala Tegoshi), he'd have a really big head and be impossible to stand. I mean, we see now that he knows he's smart, and he really likes to rub it in by making fun of other people's stupidity. If he were really good at everything, I think he'd be insufferable. As it is, he's awesome because he fails and he knows he fails, but he tries his best. <3

x.x Oh, man... One of those types. Yeah, I'd definitely hate to love him if he were like that.

On the other hand, I think he'd just be a completely different person, period. He does like making fun of other people being stupid, but he also makes fun of himself when he's done something retarded. And... Well. Isn't it about the only thing he can properly make fun of without getting it thrown back in his face? XD If he were good at other things, he wouldn't have self-esteem issues, so he probably wouldn't burst into odd moments of arrogance and immaturity as much. -_-;;

To be honest, he used to annoy the hell out of me. Every time there was any kind of "tell us about yourself" type thing, he always had to make a point out of how no one remembers him. I'm glad he's gotten over that, at least, and is actively doing something to change that. I think it's even more annoying when people whine about not being liked or whatever but aren't willing to consider changing themselves to get what they want.
