brownie goodness
I feel all sorts of heretical saying that I had to fix Nigella Lawson's brownies, but when I made them for Memorial Day, they definitely needed some help. True, they were dense, chocolatey, and ooey-gooey, but that last was really to a fault. general updateyness
Things have been chugging along nicely of late. I'm nearly finished dealing with the bathroom, despite the fact that the initial paint color turned out way too dark and had to be redone. I think I actually had to patch/spackle more wall than not after discovering the mess that was hiding under the wallpaper in the master bathroom. I am not looking forward to sanding it. -
up and down
Mal's whole class has had some sort of stomach bug this week. It started as occasional runs, but with no other symptoms - eating, playing, etc., were all normal. It's been escalating for the other kids throughout the week, but I think Mal got an early start over the weekend, and although he's got some killer diaper rash, he managed to go all day ( Read more... ) -
lessons learned
Today I learned that when there are three or more blinking red lights of doom on a new recipe, I should just fix it the first time or choose another. My ice cream book, which has more pages marked "to make" than not, starts off with an almond ice cream recipe that at first sounds delicious and easy. I got an email this afternoon notifying me that our crib has been recalled due to a slat breakage risk. We are to IMMEDIATELY STOP using our crib, which is all well and good except that leaves Mal nowhere to sleep. I think it will survive until we can deal with the recall, thanks. shoes?
Anyone with a size 8 foot in need of a cute pair of neutral flats? I picked up a pair on Monday and they have failed the real-world test for my weird-shaped feet (despite feeling fine in the store and at home, of course). My parents came out to join us for brunch on Sunday and brought some Easter goodies for us and Malcolm.
