Wow.
I'm so glad you finished this.
And it's a good combination of Love Conquers All and Love Isn't Enough.

Thank you so much! And thanks for your patience. If I'd known it would take so long to complete, I would've waited and posted it all at once. ^^;

You're right that it includes both those ideas, because that's kind of what I've found it's really like. <3

This was so good. I love how you incorporated the crossover. This fic was filled with so many heartbreaking emotions and beautifully written!

The song makes their story that much more poignant.

Thank you.

What a fantastic story. It made me feel all the feels, your the-world-didn't-actually-look-like-40s-propoganda-in-the-40s Steve was perfect, and I wanted to wrap teenage Tony up in a blanket and cuddle him.

Best thing? Your story was very accessible but didn't feel inauthentic historically. By which I mean, it felt like it was happening in the late 80s, but it wasn't so in-your-face that it caused flashbacks of the late 80s (admittedly the only part of the 80s I can remember, but believe me, it's more than enough). Most fic that I read that's set around this time is either very shaky on what the 80s felt like, or they make it so in-your-face 80s I want to curl up and cry. Your fic walks the line between the two and doesn't mention a single shoulder pad, so for me I practically think you deserve a medal haha.

Thanks so much for the lovely comments! <3 I'm very happy I got Steve right, and also pleased to hear that the time period felt natural. Nobody's mentioned that yet, and I hadn't really thought about it. I didn't feel I tried too hard to make it 80s, which is probably why it worked, though it probably helped having some late-80s memories of my own and being more recently well-steeped in the films and lit of the time. :)

aw. I really liked this story. I was kinda iffy about another hurt/comfort steve/tony story, but I'm glad I gave this a try. You captured Tony's wit and insecurities very well, and his emotions felt genuine, instead of random twists just to mess with the reader's heart.

Now I'm just sad that you aren't writing more stories :(

Thank you so much! I'm always the proudest when I win over the skeptics.

And don't be sad. I am working on a few other fic fills right now but I've been too busy with work to finish them. Some of them are almost done, though! :)
