[ cloud nine is an odd spot for the slayer to go. odd indeed, given her hot allegiance to her own drinking establishment. but here was the last place she had talked with derek. quietly, supportively. at that table.

she sits there, now. sullen and dark. but she is listening to the music. ]

[Ginia's not paying much attention to who is in the nightclub, if anyone. She's playing away, drawing up whatever song she can think of at the moment and trying to pour everything out onto the black and white keys.

After her latest song, she takes a small break to crack her knuckles and stretch out a bit. Glancing around the nightclub, she notices Buffy sitting at the table and offers a cursory nod of her head.]

[ the slayer has laid out a little tower of straws. apparently she pilfered a handful from behind the bar. she sits -- dissatisfied -- in the fine leather hunter's jacket that derek had bestowed upon her at christmas. an honour and a privilege.

god, but she... ]

Pretty stuff. [ buffy says as she nods back. ]

[Ginia offers a small smile as she turns on the bench to face her. After a pause, she closes the journal, putting a temporary stop to the impromptu concert, and grabs her notepad.

She writes as she crosses over to the table and holds out her notepad once she's there.]

[Giles walks in about halfway through the third Muse number. He takes a seat at the stage next to her, takes the rest of the song to tune up the guitar, and joins in in time for Freebird.]

[Ginia offers a bare smile when Giles joins her on stage. She's happy to see him, she really is, but it also hurts a bit.

Just last week it was the three of them, on stage, playing together. It's a happy memory, one of her better ones, but now it also hurts a little.

They'd talked about getting a band together, about what would happen if someone disappeared. Figured it had to be him.

Her smile does soften a little when he joins in with her. His playing and company is always welcomed after all.]

[Giles and Derek had a strange relationship, to say the very least. Four years ago, they never talked much. When Giles returned, it was barely a day before Derek had asked Giles to be prepared to kill him. Their paths had crossed and intersected and they'd talked and fought together and...the silences had been comfortable enough.

He won't speak until a song comes up that he doesn't know, at which points he holds up his hands in apologetic surrender.]

[They hadn't known each other long, just the stages of getting to know someone. But they'd fought together and watched each other's backs, cooked dinner for each other, and bonded over music. It was something. He was something.

She glances over at him as she begins playing Chop Suey, shaking her head lightly, though she doesn't reply until she's finished.]

[It's not until Ginia finishes her latest song does she glance at her journal and notice the message from Liu Bei. She stops playing to pick up her pen and write back to him.]

It's music from my world. Rock and roll. Or just rock.

Rock? I have never heard of it before, but it does sound quite nice.

It's a musical genre that has a lot of subsections in it. Soft, hard, pop, it's hard to nail down exactly what rock is or how to represent it.

I've only heard it played by a small handful of people here. Classical seems to be more popular, though with good reason.

[Ace was walking by Could Nine when he heard the music. Damn, was it catchy. He walked inside, and saw Ginia playing.

[Ginia finishes up her song and looks over at Ace as he applauds, smiling a bit and giving a bow of her head.]

[She quickly takes her notepad off the top of the piano and writes out a quick message for him, feeling a bit sheepish as she often does with first meetings.]
