[Audio/Action]
[Good morning, Luceti.

Do you like rock music? If you do, great. If you don't, too bad.

After finding out about Derek's departure from Luceti, Ginia heads over to Cloud Nine. No, she doesn't care if there may be people there, she'll be claiming the piano for herself and running through all the rock songs she knows. Some Bon Jovi, Read more... )

[Giles walks in about halfway through the third Muse number. He takes a seat at the stage next to her, takes the rest of the song to tune up the guitar, and joins in in time for Freebird.]

[Ginia offers a bare smile when Giles joins her on stage. She's happy to see him, she really is, but it also hurts a bit.

Just last week it was the three of them, on stage, playing together. It's a happy memory, one of her better ones, but now it also hurts a little.

They'd talked about getting a band together, about what would happen if someone disappeared. Figured it had to be him.

Her smile does soften a little when he joins in with her. His playing and company is always welcomed after all.]

[Giles and Derek had a strange relationship, to say the very least. Four years ago, they never talked much. When Giles returned, it was barely a day before Derek had asked Giles to be prepared to kill him. Their paths had crossed and intersected and they'd talked and fought together and...the silences had been comfortable enough.

He won't speak until a song comes up that he doesn't know, at which points he holds up his hands in apologetic surrender.]

S-Sorry.

[They hadn't known each other long, just the stages of getting to know someone. But they'd fought together and watched each other's backs, cooked dinner for each other, and bonded over music. It was something. He was something.

She glances over at him as she begins playing Chop Suey, shaking her head lightly, though she doesn't reply until she's finished.]

/...Can't believe he's gone./

[Giles looks back at her, half hidden sadness in his eyes.]

...I'm afraid I can, actually.

[It was a recent development for him to stop thinking of Derek's very existence as borrowed time. An all too brief sort of development.]

[Ginia glances over at Giles and gives a small sigh. It's really all a matter of time until they all go home or something happens that changes things.]

/Giles, you aren't supposed to depress me more./

[signed teasingly with a smile because what else is there to do?]

[He isn't. He's leaving out the fact that Derek probably has about forty eight hours to live.

But he does look apologetic, despite the teasing. Giles looks hurriedly away, starting to clean his glasses.]

S-Sorry.

[Ginia reaches over and gives his arm a small pat as a sign it's fine, but she lets him go on with cleaning his glasses and waits for him to finish before she begins signing again.]

/I do want to start a rock band still. It'll just be harder now./

So do I.

...but we don't have a bass. And, um, I can't play bass. [He indicates the instrument balanced carefully in his arms.] Just, um, just this.

/And Derek was supposed to teach me how to play bass.

...I suppose I could see if the library has any books on it./

It does. I know it does.

What we need is a bass.

/We discussed that as well. There's waiting to see if anything shows up in the item shop, asking the Malnosso nicely, or... we were going to see if we could create something in the battle dome./

[She laughs quietly, remembering the conversation with Derek.]

/He wanted to see if there was a way we could use one of the rooms to set up a studio or something. Create some instruments we could use for practicing./

...we might get lucky, and have something show up in the shop. We have been before. Link was, with his guitar.

As for asking the Malnosso nicely...

...I'm not certain how much of an option that is.

/Luck has never been on my side and I'm not sure I want to deal with the Malnosso right now. Ever. I'll see how the battle dome goes./

[She shifts a little so she can rest her back on the piano.]

/...Derek was the first person that left Luceti that mattered to me in some way. I feel callous for admitting it, but it's true./

Why on Earth does something like that make you feel callous?

[A genuine question. Giles hasn't lost many of his friends made here. Friends from home, yes. Since day one, since before day one. But the circle he's built around himself that never knew Sunnydale...no, the village has been reasonably kind, there. Perhaps that's why he's been pulling away from Buffy more and more.]

/Because I haven't cared enough about others leaving? Because I couldn't? I know we're all in this together. I say it myself all the time, but when it comes down to it? There's only a small handful I can really only care about./

[Because in the end, with everyone she's already lost, she can't afford to lose anymore.]
