Why didn't Carson turn into a Wraith? Nothing else makes any sense! Now, if he Descends and is part-Wraith and becomes the God of the Wraith, then I'll be happy.

I know! That could have been an interesting storyline. Exploding tumours just brings Monty Python's "Mrs. Niggerbaiter's exploded!" sketch to mind...

(And, yes, I know the above sentence has the N-word within a character name. That was the character name Monty Python gave her. You don't like it, take it up with them rather than sniping at me about how it's "offensive".)

Any time you get rid of a major character with a plot device no-one can talk about without laughing, you fail.

Oh, that parenthetical was to readers in general who might take offence, not necessarily you, mecurtin.

Absolutely none of the military people, since they all outrank John

While it is true that the generals do, I thought Sam and Cam shared John's rank of Lt. Col. - though I confess I've not been watching S10 SG1...

I think it depends on who's got the rank longer. Seniority or something like that.

Yeah, see, that's what I was thinking, but maybe I'm wrong...

Nope, seniority counts, and seniority dates from the day/time you get your official promotion.

Uhm, a general board for sg-1 or stargate? Did you try stargate? When I made "My Big Damn Survey" I posted there and got several SG-1 fans, too. But then again, I made posts everywhere, so...*shrugs*

Yeah, I wasn't wanting to spam this across a zillion communities. But, hey, that one has 600-700 people watching it, so it's good enough! Thanks.

SG-1 vs Atlantis: The first seven seasons of SG-1 will always own my heart, but, I think that SGA is the superior show now. I've just never warmed up to Cam as the leader of the team (although the character has had his moments) and the team just feels very disjointed to me without Jack. On top of that, I've really hated the Jaffa rebellion/Ori storylines. Hated.

SG-1 on SGA: I could go with Daniel because he wouldn't be interfering that much with the established hierarchy. As an anthropologist/linguist, he would really add to the expedition. Although I love Sam, I really don't want her coming in and messing with Rodney's mojo or the slashy vibes between John/Rodney. I'd love to see Jack in one or two episodes, and if they made Hammond the captain of whatever ship supplies Atlantis, that'd be cool. None of the others though.

Carson Beckett: Yes, I had quite a few problems with him being a regular and being shoehorned into episodes that I don't think he fit, but I hated that they killed the character, and they need to ( ... )

However, we're going to be stuck with Dr. Kaylee, and if we do see Carson again, I doubt it's going to be the original.

lalalala I can't hear you!

Long live Carson. I too wish they wrote him better things to do - but I wanted to barf with the way Elizabeth and Not!Carson were practically giggly about replacing him at the beginning of First Strike.

*clings tearily to Carson*

Yeah, I was devastated when they killed off Janet on SG-1, but they'd done such a good job of making Carson irritating, that I wasn't all that upset that they were removing him as a regular. But, the MFers said that they weren't going to kill him, just disappear him. And then they killed him with exploding tumors, OMG!

I love this show but there are times I really want to bitch slap some producers.

On the whole which show's better thing, I keep thinking on a bit of meta I saw over the summer that compared Atlantis to a fairy tale, and really that's what it comes down to for me, they are two very different types of shows, and it's like comparing apples and oranges, but if you're going for quality of writing and acting, S1-S6 for SG1 is great, but visually SGA wins hands down. SGA is just such a pretty show, and I don't think that's going to change no matter who they kill off.

As for bringing over folks, Mini-Jack all the way, but if they won't the Daniel or Jonus wouldn't be bad, but anyone else would screw up the power dynamics and/or the relationships that I adore. Maybe they'll replace Weir with Daniel..
