Really lovely, highlighting Rodney's founded in reality fears and his ability to work through the tasks to counter the panic.

Thanks! I'm still working on getting the voices and mannerisms down, but I'm really enchanted with how Rodney's minds works and the sorts of lies, truths, and half-truths he tells himself to keep himself going.

This is really lovely--all of Rodney's fears and worries focused down onto a pile of power bars.

He started pacing again, his mind dancing from possibility to possibility, each one more horrific than the last.

I see this perfectly in my mind's eye, his thoughts firing off in all different directions, his mind racing. It's so wonderfully Rodney. Thank you for sharing this, it's wonderful!

Oh, I was having fun with that. I love how Rodney holds the external world accountable for things inside of himself, and how he projects and manages his issues by managing the things around him. It's really interesting to try and take apart.

I'm glad you liked it! Thanks.

So very Rodney.
I loved He ate that one, unfolding the wrapper completely and laying it on the top of the pile he'd built, like the flag on a soldier's coffin.
I truly think he would see it that way.

Good stuff :)

Thanks. I was trying to tie in his fears that he might die with the way an empty bottle gets called a 'dead soldier', and use it to invoke how he could see himself as one of the 'dead soliders' of the future. Early Rodney is fun and fascinating, and his mind is a wonderful bundle of stuff.

Hey, for the sake of regularity, could you put "by [Authorname]" into the subject line? It'll save me a TON of time in the archiving! Thanks!!

...to tell you that you had me at Grabbing the open case of power bars off his desk, because I could totally see where this was going and had to stop and laugh out loud. Yes, yes, totally--as someone said, this is power bars as symptomatic of all his anxieties about this brave new world. Brilliant idea.

Cool! I love his food obsession at the moment, and the way that food=security for him. Just too much fun.
