A bad idea
It's not a very good idea to cuddle up with your wife for a nice, cozy dessert and mellow tv-zoneout while watching a recording of CSI featuring very graphic decomposition.
(beadtific, "History Detectives" was much better. The only decomposition on that program happened 5,100 years ago and involved no car trunks.)
Boy, THAT killed the mood.

Sick computer
So my computer fixed itself (!) at the shop yesterday. It seemed to be a power management unit that needed resetting, which meant restarting the blamed thing with the shift-option-control keys pressed. Apparently a huge population of immigrant Somali children in Springfield, Massachusetts were distributed to 18 public schools last year and 23 public schools this year. The only translator goes from school to school ON A BUS PASS to work. So why not put them at the same school? Because the city fears it would lower the state MCAS (mandatory ( Read more... ) -

Sick Powerbook
What is this, the computer bubonic plague? beadtific's iBook has been giving her kernel panics. Today she was using my Powerbook and casually mentioned, "Why is the power adapter not charging?"

Etymology: woot
On the ride from Binghamton, I mentioned that I had looked up the word "woot" and found that it was a conflation of "wow, loot." lostgirlslairbegged to differ, saying that it was an acronym from gaming that stands for "we owned the other team."
