INTEEEEEEEENNNNSSSEEEEEE!!

I can't believe Kibum had a whole family before he was taken. It's sickening because those people just came in and took away everything and everyone Kibum had. His whole life got wiped away in mere minutes and he was just sold into slavery like nothing happened. It's just... so fucking infuriating. Kibum got lucky with Jinki, but it's still so horrible to think about. I wonder what Jinki felt about the whole thing afterward. Like. That's a lot to take in. Kibum is amazing. This chapter was definitely intense and powerful. I am glad to know that Kibum's brother is alive. Honestly, I really hope Jinki can make some changes for the Halflings.

you're right the hunters in the chapter were disgusting. i mean, this was a difficult chapter for me to write bc i wanted it to be detailed and graphic so you can feel just a smidgeon of what key felt. i mean he lost everything very quickly, and in a very violent way. it was definitely intense and i've lost some readers since i've updated (they were subscribers on aff). i'm not sure everyone was ready for this. and i think key having a family was a definite surprise. but i wanted to keep it realistic in terms of if a world like this existed. they would be at a stage where earth was maybe 1000 years ago? and some areas were up until a couple hundred years ago. and people living like that would have gotten married and procreated earlier so.. anyway i digress

Whoa. Holy moly that was intense, and despite my short attention span I couldn't stop reading. I love knowing about Kibum's background and more about his culture, but I hate knowing that that was what had happened, that he lost way more than I thought he did. And I looove history, and since this reflects Earth's history (minus the alien invaders) so well I'm just?? a mess??? You better add some intense fluff to make up for this.
Just... oh my goodness.

yeah it was super intense and i'm sorry for that :( but it was totally necessary. and i'm a super history nerd like i wanted to go into ceremonial face paints and the ceremonial dances and stuff but it just would have become a monster and i knew i wanted to spend the bulk of the chapter on what actually happened. but i have all these images in my mind of what his village looked like and what full ceremonial regalia would have been!

there will definitely be fluff next chapter have no fear! i mean angst fluff bc poor bummie but fluff nonetheless.

Great update, so nice to finally hear backstory.

Sorry it took me so long to have the time to read this but I wanted to have time to read & review. It was worth the wait. I love knowing how put together Key was in his normal life. Wow, a special wife and a cute baby. No wonder he was so distraught when he fist came. Poor Key, seeing his whole family murdered. I glad he found his wife & baby and at least knew what happened. I loved how he thought the go to sleep dart was the kill him dart. Their societies are so different.

I wonder what will happen next, do they help him find the rest of his family? Can he see them regularly and lead a kinda happy life?

yeah key definitely had a different kind of life in his own village. it was hard to write such a graphic scene where it was all taken from him. and yes! poor key thought all this time his brother was dead but now he knows he has one last living relative.

as for what happens next well.. i can't give anything away lol. but onew did vow to find key's brother. if he succeeds or not is the question. i'm hoping to write more soon once fathers day is over and i have more time. thanks again for reading! it means the world!!!

So many surprises! I had no clue that Key had been married or had a child. This makes things so much worse knowing how they handled capturing them. I never did understand when I watch movies or read books of people killing those they do not capture. (Not saying that capturing them is bad enough, but to kill all the others is beyond cruel).

I am worried for Onew in trying to find his brother. I can see he could really get into trouble for asking questions about siblings. I don't know how he would go about asking for information without people questioning why and I can't think of an way to do it without looking suspicious.

This gets more and more interesting, thank you for the update.

now we finally know what happened to Kibum before he met Onew. well, at least some of it. i know, from previous chapters, that he suffered greatly since being captured by humans. i worry that their future quest to find Kibum's brother might bring so much trouble for both of them. oooh, the anticipation is unbearable.

thank you for the update. i hope you remain inspired in continuing with this story.
