(It's Comic-Con weekend. Expect lots and lots and lots and lots of geeky news to be released the next few days.)

I'm a bad Dresden Files fan and didn't actually realize that the new book was finally coming out next week. As weird coincidences go, though, I started re-reading the series from the beginning earlier this week, so that was good timing ( Read more... )

RE: DC Comics. After reading the stuff on Arsenal... It was just as I feared. DC is becoming "younger and hipper" and the sense of tradition I always loved about the DC universe is kaput. :/

Is it bad that I'm really hoping this is going to completely backfire in their faces and they lose enough sales that they decide to go back to the status quo? :-/

Um. Apparently they're planning a live action Captain Planet film. I have to admit, I... didn't see that coming.

Honestly, this doesn't surprise me a bit. In fact, I'm surprised it took them this long to dredge up that old show because everyone's so YAY ENVIRONMENT RULES AND STUFF now. More so than they were back when that show was on. And, yes, I watched the shit out of it. Linka was my favorite. Hot blonde Russian chicks ... mmmm. Yeah.

I used to adore the show back when it was airing, but it's been ages since I even thought about it. Gi was always my favorite, though.

I'm sorry, I read the line "retractable pants" and instantly lost all respect for the DC comic writers.

Ho yah. I think I'll do what I usually do and remain ensconced in the timelines and plotlines of the past, where crap made more sense. Loyal to the Universe itself, but the gods and powers controlling it need their heads examined.

*nods*

There were still three titles that I was planning on following after the reboot happened, but I'm getting to the point where I'm honestly not sure if I want to give DC any of my money.

I'd like you to meet my new band, Retractable Pants.

(Though seriously, what?)

I really think this whole reboot will blow up in their faces. *glares at DC*

The very first thing I thought was that "Retractable Pants" would be an awesome band name.

Clearly, if two of us felt the same way, it must be trufax.

...retractable pants.

I literally squeaked out loud when I read that. And when my family said "What?", I told them, "This is the most ridiculous piece of comics news I have ever read." For it is.

RETRACTABLE PANTS.
