Links, Recs, and Such

(It's Comic-Con weekend. Expect lots and lots and lots and lots of geeky news to be released the next few days.)

I'm a bad Dresden Files fan and didn't actually realize that the new book was finally coming out next week. As weird coincidences go, though, I started re-reading the series from the beginning earlier this week, so that was good timing on my part. Though I probably would have started a couple of days earlier, if I'd remembered what the new release date was, just to make sure I made it through all twelve novels (plus the short stories) in time. Oh, well. It'll be close, at least. :-/

Ah, it's apparently the week for new movie trailers. Now it looks like there's one for Spider-Man. (Which I actually saw on a big screen last night, before Captain America.) *headdesk* And, once again, they seem to be missing the point that - while Peter's story can be a bit dark and depressing at times - at heart he's just a wise-cracking geek. This trailer makes it look like they've somehow mistaken Peter Parker for Bruce Wayne.

All of you who grew up in the early 90s and/or read anything and everything posted for Yuletide have probably heard of Captain Planet and the Planeteers (not to mention its spin-off/sequel series). Um. Apparently they're planning a live action Captain Planet film. I have to admit, I... didn't see that coming.

They released a clip from next season of Psych! Oh, show. I've missed you. ♥

More pictures from The Hobbit! And this time, it's all thirteen dwarves!

In DCnU news, Wonder Woman will now have retractable pants. (There's also some news related to Lian Harper and Wally West in that article, for those of you who've been wondering about their fates.) I don't even know anymore. Seriously, DC? Seriously? I'm getting to the point where, as much as I've been looking forward to a handful of titles (Blue Beetle! Green Lantern Corps! Justice League International!), I might have to stop reading all DC comics just on principle. And that makes me very, very, very sad. :-(

Last but not least, I have vid recs! Multiple ones!

I Need a Hero by beccatoria. "SHE'S ON A HORSE." DC Animated - Wonder Woman.

My Number by
greensilver. "It's a silly time to learn to swim on the way down." X-Men (movieverse) - Charles/Erik, Jean/Scott, Logan/Rogue.

Starlight by calapine. "I counted so much on just going back, to things I recognise and trust." Doctor Who - Barbara Wright.
