(It's Comic-Con weekend. Expect lots and lots and lots and lots of geeky news to be released the next few days.)

I'm a bad Dresden Files fan and didn't actually realize that the new book was finally coming out next week. As weird coincidences go, though, I started re-reading the series from the beginning earlier this week, so that was good timing ( Read more... )

I'm sorry, I read the line "retractable pants" and instantly lost all respect for the DC comic writers.

Ho yah. I think I'll do what I usually do and remain ensconced in the timelines and plotlines of the past, where crap made more sense. Loyal to the Universe itself, but the gods and powers controlling it need their heads examined.

*nods*

There were still three titles that I was planning on following after the reboot happened, but I'm getting to the point where I'm honestly not sure if I want to give DC any of my money.

I haven't actually ever given them money. I just tended to wander into Borders and read whatever was on the shelf. Can't do that anymore, though, shame.

There aren't very many series that I follow on a monthly basis when it comes to DC, but there are a handful. And, considering how much I love Guy Gardner, Jaime Reyes, and the JLI as a whole, it's saying a lot that I'm seriously at the point where I'm not sure I want to even bother reading them. :-(

I'd like to get into a DC series, especially one of the Lantern lines, but there's just so many backstories and stuff to sift through. And Marvel makes it so handy with their comics database, it's easier to collect their comics.

Personally, if you really want to try to get into one of the Lantern lines, I recommend Green Lantern Corps. Read this introduction and you should be set. :)

Heehee, I've actually read that many times. Guy mooning Batman, Win.

There's a reason that Guy is totally my favorite Lantern. ♥

Since I know next to nothing about any of the human Lanterns, I think Kyle is my favorite just based on the fact he's an artist. It's like, "I like the idea of the Corp, and here's this guy who's artsy and brave and stuff, so I'm gonna picture him like DC's Steve Rogers. <3" Of course, I'm probably very wrong. lol.

I really do like Kyle, but I have to admit that he's probably my third favorite of the human Lanterns. John Stewart is just an awesome character, and I have to put him in the #2 spot. (Which is why I was actually looking forward to the upcoming GLC series until DC started making me mad. :-( Guy and John are going to be working together for pretty much the first time ever.)

John is probably my least favorite, though admittedly my only knowledge of him is from the Justice League animated series and affiliated connecting universe shows like Static Shock, and it always seemed like he was very linear and unimaginative with his constructs. Not to mention, he lost his ring/lost his will/ran out of power/got knocked unconscious/etc etc practically every other episode, which to some people may scream "suspense factor for ratings!" but to me screamed "not as imaginative/willful/powerful as he should be."

See, Hal is actually my least favorite. And that's because, honestly, DCAU!John was a combination of the comic!John and comic!Hal - with more comic!Hal mixed in than comic!John, in my opinion. John Stewart's an architect; his constructs tend to be more linear, yes, but I definitely wouldn't call them unimaginative. Not in the comics, at least.

I have a limited, uh...what's the word...exposure. I'll take your word on it. :3 I named my phone Hal though, just for kicks. It's got a green protective casing and an awesome Lantern symbol background on it. X3 Geek me.

Awesome. ♥

And I totally know what you mean about names. My phone's named Abby, my desktop's Gaila, my laptop's Oracle, my iPod's Wally, and my Kindle's Wasp.
