New Rules : Effective Immediately

Oct 06, 2010 21:38

Hello everyone.

I have some rather upsetting news. Due to a recent mishap between a buyer and a seller here in this community, I have been forced to draw up a new rule regarding direct sales. By direct sales, I mean sales where the items are posted directly to the community, rather than posted in a sales journal or eBay.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELYAll ( Read more... )

No, you don't have to, but like I said, don't be surprised if you're asked to do so for anything a buyer may be interested in. It's still recommended, and I myself am going to implement it when I get back from vacation.

If you post a teaser pic, it would be beneficial to follow the rule, but it's not fully required.

I'm not really convinced that it's just a trust issue. It's more of a "mistakes happen, I'm sorry, this is what I'll do to fix it" situation that didn't end as planned. A resolution was in place, but it somehow backfired. I'm not at liberty to discuss how or why.

If it's just two items, it really wouldn't cause much trouble to re-take the photos before you re-post them...

No, you don't need to re-take the photos every time you repost. Just bookmark the OP and link to it in your re-post. =)

The situation is an item was listed as mint with a photo that was a month or so old, and when the items were received, they were not mint.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I shall add the time limit for photos to the rule.

If you post your items for sale in the community, you WILL have to re-take your photos, or your post will be deleted. It is an official community rule, and it must be followed. If you post them outside of the community, then you're not being forced to re-take them, but I advise you not to refuse if anyone asks for a new photo.

"Do not let sales go through unless a proof picture is posted."

I'm only one person, with a real life and a family to take care of. I can't possible monitor every single sale that happens within the community.

"Also, how can they tell if it's a Paypal fee increase for the payment?"

I don't know what you mean by this.

That's not really preferred, but since people usually want to see photos before buying anything from a text list anyway, I suppose I can accept that method.

They can't track if you're receiving extra money to cover the fees, no; but a user can report you for blatantly saying that you added the fee to their total. As for calling it S/H & adding the PP fee to it...

"If you are really concerned about money lost to fees, up the prices of your items by a $1-2, or charge a handling fee."

I pretty much covered that already. Do not call it the PayPal or PP fee though. Call it a handling fee, or just stick it into the shipping quote when you give it.

Thank you very much. =)

A fee charged with a PayPal gift payment is because the payment was a credit card. Those still accrue a fee no matter what. The sender has the option to pay the fee themselves or pass it on to the receiver.
