Please give me recs that will introduce me to your favorite original characters.  There are no limits to this request; I don't want to miss anyone interesting, but please indicate whether a story is very angsty.  I save those to read when I'm in the proper mood.  I don't see a tag to indicate request: original characters.

 There is a set of stories I believe with a young woman who grew up in Peru and ends up marrying Rafe.  She also has special abilities and helps at Ranier to get Blair reinstated.

I read it a long time ago and can't think of the name or author of the stories.
