The Light My Fire awards are an awesome source of recs. I'm so sorry they're gone now, but here are just a couple of years of nominees for best original character. You can check out their website for links: http://lmfa.diagonalfiction.com/previous/previousyears.php... )

Thank you. I wish Jake and his grandmother were real; I think they'd be a pleasure to know. You're right, Dorset County was a great series.

Oops, I forgot to add that in Everything's Jake, in the Full Circle trilogy, we have an interesting guy who's a suspect for a little bit but then plays a larger role later. Also there's two cops (or FBI agents I can't remember) who do some investigating and I like them also ( ... )

I love humorous stories. I didn't expect all the OC's to be great people, but I'll enjoy reading about them. Thanks.

I was tagging for the authors that were mentioned individually, and couldn't find tags for Batagur, Mace M, Saoirse, and Rachel Martin. Since LMFA figures so prominently in this topic, should I ask for a LMFA tag?

Mab- Kings or Knaves
The Duke of Stavely, depraved aristocrat, wickedly funny and entertaining, I want another chapter.

Rachel Martin- Year of the Dragon

William's lover, Tommy, a man of hidden depths, great story about Jim's father with a wonderful cast of characters.

Shadow- Decompression (warning- violence, rape)
A hard read because of the subject matter, but Blair's home nurse Kerri and her girlfriend, Linda provide the lighter moments. Especially Kerri, she is competent, sympathetic, and has a great sense of humour.

Thank you. All these people look interesting, but I'll hold off on rereading Decompression until the mood is right.

I meant to tell you this way back when I saw this comment - the Duke? Definitely would have been played by Ian McKellen in any movie. *g*

Ian McKellen would make an absolutely filthy scoundrel Stavely :-)
